In context the quotes don't come across as poorly. Essentially he said that he was 100% committed to the Broncos and while Kevie would tell him one thing, the club would do another and they were happy for him to leave.
Maybe not as poorly from the perspective of Bird, but it shows a disparity between the coach and the management.

Wish these management fuckwits would stay the **** out of the football department.

The coach should hold the influence on football related decisions.

We are chipping in about $400k i believe. Utter stupidity.
Its only stupid if he is able to get his body healthy enough to be consistent contributor on the field, which he has not done with us. Otherwise, we have 400k to spend next year that we did not have before.

In fairness, Bird was under the impression that Kev was happy for him to go as well.

It didn't come across like Kev was overruled, just that Kev would say something to Jack to be nice but it was clear they were happy for him to leave.

This is a joke , the people undermining Kevie need punting now !

I really hope it’s a case of Kev playing the good guy while White cops the backlash of callously forcing out low value players
White plays the role of the cop with only 3 days till retirement only he knows he doesn't have to fear the bullet before then.

Sure if there is someone lined up and that money for them, which is highly unlikely. Whatever the case, it is rubbish to pay ANYTHING for a guy who takes up a player option.

I hope this means we can get someone in fullback, I'll be pissed if he plays a full season for dragons next year because it's clear he is a good player he is just made of glass.

This. I stil don't get it. After all this time and with so so many quotes etc misrepresented, with every single poster fully aware that you cannot take it for granted that a media quote is true...they still go off on a rant about what a shit **** playerx is. Surely, just once they'd comment only after hearing it directly from the player but **** no, let's just starting screaming Trump style.

You know how people don’t misrepresent things you say?

After a club rehabs you for months before you even step foot on the field. After the same club gets only 17 games out of you in three seasons. After the same club stands by you and your big money contract, even though you’ve provided no more (a fair argument could easily be made for less than) than a minimum-wage player could.

You don’t utter the phrase: “I felt like they gave up on me because of my injuries.”

No misreprentation there. That’s the attitude of someone who doesn’t understand or appreciate what has been done for them.

This club has done a lot of things wrong lately, but no one could possibly criticise how they have treated Bird.

After saying things like that, context or not, he deserves all the vitriol he gets.

Hey Bird,
Correction: We gave up on you because you were the worst investment in the history of the Brisbane Broncos organization and you're odds on for being below value or not even finishing the season again!

You have a sunk cost fallacy in play when you think you need to keep Bird for a season as so much has been invested in him already. Keep tossing the wood and lets have a good old bonfire, then can do a rebuild better.. At least that's the idea. Good idea to toss the person in charge of the player options at the same time.

Context no longer matters. That will do me.

Who knows. It was just an estimate.
I was trying to say we were due to pay Bird 975k for 21. If we are chipping in 400k or still carrying that then we'd have 575k to spend, not the 400k you mentioned. It's not really important though. I'd guess we would be putting in somewhere between 300 and 400k.
