James Roberts signs with the Brisbane Broncos

No recognition for this bloke? He was absolutely magnificent

Not quite in the same class as the other two

I am pretty fucking stoked with this signing TBH.

Milf and Roberts in the same team... fucking electric, lads. Fucking electric.
Seriously can not wait to see them line up next year. We already had plenty of exciting trys this year, next year should be even better. Roberts is a gun.

There are two threads on The Greenhouse (Google greenhouse act). One Brisbane Broncos 2016, and then the signings thread.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Yeah its the cap's fault the Raiders are the only club not to feature in a preliminary final in a unified comp in over TWENTY YEARS.

Some of the posts on there are so delusional they are scary. Scary as in they are the kind of paranoid, delusional ramblings that are often found after someone goes postal.

They are probably one more Canberra scandal away from actually going postal. Go that long supporting a sports team with zero success worth talking about and you would probably be ready to stab some people too

Well they just re-signed Sticky didn't they? That'd be the final straw for most sane minds.

What does it say about the Raiders that every team apart from the Tits, who have only been in half the time, have either been premiers or minor premiers in the NRL era.... Except for the Raiders.

It's a good point. I read somewhere that they are the only side that hasn't reached the preliminary finals stage since the NRL began in 1998. Every other team has at least been in striking distance of a GF appearance.

And it's all the NRLs fault...

Don't they understand that noone wants to play or live in Canberra cause it's a shthole! lol

THE track record of the Broncos in providing six NSW Origin hopefuls with a stage on which to earn selection played a part in the signing of James Roberts.

Wayne Bennett’s successes with coaching players with chequered backgrounds also carried weight when the twice-sacked Roberts chose this week to join the Broncos rather than one of his former clubs, South Sydney.

Glenn Lazarus, Terry Matterson, Chris Johns, Luke Priddis, Michael De Vere and Peter Wallace have played for the Blues from the Broncos, who have also placed 52 players with Queensland’s Origin team in 28 years.

“There’s no question Wayne Bennett has an ability to turn good footballers into great footballers,’’ Roberts’s manager Jeremy Donovan said.

“It gives them an opportunity to shine on a stage like Origin, in James’ case playing for NSW, with the aspirations of one day representing his country.

“It was a major consideration.

“James felt at ease and comfortable with the Broncos, knowing he had the full support of the coach and the entire club.

“James also liked the way Wayne was able to relate to him and some of the circumstances James has found himself in the past.’’

Roberts was sacked by South Sydney and Penrith before making the most of his chances at the Titans.

Indigenous team coach Laurie Daley said last week he wanted to see how Roberts, selected on the bench, fared in camp for the All-Stars in February with a view to his candidacy for NSW Origin selection.

Roberts is scheduled to train with the Broncos when they resume their pre-season on January 4.

The NRL integrity unit may not have finished by then an examination of the valuation of Roberts, 22, towards the salary cap and the validity of third-party sponsorship deals.

Broncos chief executive Paul White was involved in contract talks to sign Roberts while maintaining his treatment for brain cancer.

“Playing for the Broncos allowed him to stay on the Gold Coast where he is really happy and settled and that was a big consideration, along with which culture he most wanted to be a part,’’ Donovan said.

Penrith general Phil Gould said the December transfer involving Roberts represented “everything wrong with the NRL’’ and hit out at its “head in the sand leadership’’.

But Gould tweeted he was personally pleased for Roberts.

“Great club. He’ll do very well,’’ he added.

Brisbane firmed to outright premiership favourites early this week as some of the more astute reporters, including those at The Courier-Mail, wrote about the confidence of the Broncos that they would sign Roberts.

One agency put up a betting market in which Roberts was a $2.50 chance to be Brisbane’s top tryscorer in 2016 and $13 to head the NRL try-scoring lists.

Roberts has scored 32 tries in 52 NRL matches, including 16 for Gold Coast last season.

Gould can suck a fat one. Everything wrong with the NRL, these guys complain about everything. The guy had his signature forged on a

legally binding contract. That is forgery and is a legal matter that could result in jail time. What did they expect the guy to do stick around

after his club tried to screw him or was he to sit out a whole year and wait for the proper time to sign a deal. If Penrith where in a position

to sign him they would have, same with every other fucking team in the comp. These winging pricks from down south just can't take the

fact that Queensland have the two best teams in the comp. If the roosters, rabbits, eels, sea eagles picked him up not a word would be

said. These pricks have watched a team like the Roosters running around for years with half a NSW and Australian team in that club and

no one questions there cap space, I am not saying they have cheated the cap either it is just a fact that successful teams are well run, do

not pay overs for players and have their cap space worked out to the last decimal point. (we almost lost this under hook)

We had the ability to go for him so we did and due to us having some upward prospects in the next few years and well run club the kid

signed with us. DEAL WITH IT NSW SCUMBAGS

whats the link too the greenhouse where they are winging about the mighty broncos

Happy to have Roberts on board. Would be a good foot race between him, Walker and lighting Bott!

Too many posts about the Raiders for my liking. Their fans are toilet bugs.
