Segs has had nothing against him like Barba has to my knowledge.
In terms of domestic abuse he hasnt. I think with him its been his links to the criminal elements in NSW. Fairly sure he got warned by NSW police about it at one point. He is too good a player for nobody to really look at him, so at a guess i'd say something like his off field associations were probably putting some clubs off.

Can he play tomorrow or what? How about last week?

We finally have a fucking legitimate 9 to pressure Macca? This is unexpected and great.

Gotta disagree with this bit. How many of us would have given our testicles to be a first grade player? It should be his life. If that's his attitude then he should just retire from Broncos, forfeit his salary, and go and run around with his junior club on the weekends.
Depends on your life outlook mate tbh and things you may have been torugh. Boyd was more than likely of the same frame of mind in say 2015 or 2016. Difference is, nobody would have made a big issue of it because he was performing in the field. He isnt now so saying things like that are obviously going to cause him issues. I think its more than possible to treat it as a game and still do your job.

Maccas knee sounding like nikos cork
I don't think we can afford to release him as much as I go on about getting rid of him.

Honestly if he's on a modest wage I'd happily keep him around for the remainder of his contract. I genuinely don't think an 80 minute hooker is worth it unless they are genuinely top class.

Macca would be good opening the game with a fast dangerous 9 like Segs closing out games.

Thats absolutely how we should use him.

I dont worry about his ability tbf. I also think if 2 or 3 players are dickheads and they can corrupt the whole group then its not a strong group to start with.

Wayne doesnt necessarily fix players, but he absolutely helps them a lot as people. Not sure why you need to have a pop at Bennett in that regard. I'm sure their families and friends care more about them being a better person over thousands of Broncos fans who really couldnt give a damn about their personal lives. Also, Roberts is like a new man if you are being honest about it. He has had one slip up where he got drunk. Its what happens sometimes to people trying to live their lives and recover from an addiction, they make mistakes. If he keeps making them its a different story, but at the moment, its the exception, not the rule.

And Boyd is right, it is only a game. I totally understand fans hate hearing it, and at one point in my life i would of as well. Not these days though, things happen that make you realise how insignificant a game of Rugby League is in the scheme of things.
I'm not having a pop at Bennett, just giving an alternative view to the constant and relentless seibold bashing that goes on by the same people at every opportunity.

It is only a game..... That he gets paid VERY, VERY Good money to perform at. You don't hear a top ceo run a business into the ground then tell the investors "it's just work, life goes on". They get paid that money to perform, if its not a priority in their life im sure it will be for someone else. Those same family and friends that are so important to him are the ones that benefit from the paycheck he provides them. Does it mean its more important then them, of course bloody not, but he should have to prioritise footy to make sure they can continue to enjoy the same lifestyle

We would also have Fifita or Glenn on the bench as utility for outside backs... not as good as a legitimate utility like Staggs, but should be ok to cover losing a back.

Plus that utility is barely getting used anyway

Like i said though, his outlook on football just being a game would have been no different in 2016 when he was performing. Its an issue now if he says it because he isnt performing. Nobody seemed to be making an issue of this sort of things in 2016. Players down on confidence and form tend to get to a stage where everything they do is wrong and thats what i feel is happening to Boyd. He is second guessing every single thing he does, and he is making glaring errors at times. I dont think generally its an effort thing.

Our issue at the Broncos, judging by Seibolds comments about him being an easy target, is we dont have a real alternative to even take him out of the firing line, either as fullback or Captain. I think personally Bird would handle fullback easily, but i'm not sure Seibs sees it the same.

This is why people need to be patient.

He is working on fixing things, things that Bennett refused to fix, and that isn't going to happen overnight. He might turn out to be a dud, or he might be a huge success. Only time will tell.
Id be more inclined the be patient if they were working on the defence but clearly they haven’t during the off season

id be happy to see Bird given a run at fullback for a game or 2....would be useful in the future to know just what he would bring to the custodian role...

This signing really comes with not too much downside to Brisbane with plenty of potential upside if the head rules the heart and he grasps this chance. Personally it always makes me smile when you see a club prepared to believe in the person and not the press about them...

This is in James hands....Broncos have not much to lose , but he does, so I hope he is grateful for this chance...?

I'm not sure how anyone could be negative about this signing.

He'll be valuable for us, even if it is from the bench.

We could be looking to use him in the same sort of role as Brandon Smith/Jazz Tevaga/Victor Radley.

Bench hooker/lock role.

Even Jayden Brailey was playing lock for the Sharks this weekend.

At least now, with 3 specialist hookers, Macca, Turpin and Seggy provide us with some options. They all have their various strengths.

no-one is being negative about his talent, he is clearly a quality player, which makes it surprising that not a single NRL club would even throw him a minimum wage contract until now (and that probably only happened due to Maccas injury and us releasing Niko)

this makes it likely that the rumours about his "negative" impact on the playing group and the shady associations he keeps outside of the game are true.

In Sydney though. He will hopefully appreciate this last chance saloon ride he has at the Broncs.
