Jarryd Hayne NFL Career

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

He obviously has some sort of shot as he trained with a side and is now having a crack at it. He wouldn't just do that on a pipe dream would he?

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

More likely Stewart to Eels and Ricky to get Hoffman. HaHa

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

Who comes into the four nations squad do you think?

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

I almost feel sorry for Parra supporters. Just as they were looking a better team they lose their star player who will not be easy to replace especially in the short term.

I did say almost :shot:

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

Crazy news, but good luck to him. If he make it he'll make more money in a few years there than he would in his career over here.

I can potentially see him fitting in as a slot receiver or KR/PR. Doesn't really have a the size for a cowbell back or 3DRB - would definitely have potential in the running game though.

Interested to see which club gives him a chance!

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

Saw something that said he is considering being a return specialist, and that might actually not be a bad fit. Could be a gunner on special teams coverage as well. Otherwise RB, but I think it's a long shot at his age to get up to speed. But good luck to him.

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

Expected Inglis before Hayne but eh, one down one to go.

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

Quote by Reggie Bush

“He actually looks like an NFL running back. Looks like he could come play with us tomorrow.”

Hayne has studied running back Bush’s game to improve his own form at the Eels.

“He’s fast, strong and … wow! Look at that hit. That’s an NFL football hit. I like this guy,” Bush said when shown a highlights reel.

He'll play a new style TE or RB. WIll probs start as a punt returner.

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

Yes.

Now we won't hear the commentators raving on about The Hayne Train/Plane.

"The Eels are looking good tonight, so here are 5minutes of highlights from Haynes NFL season instead of the game"

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

Can't blame him... he won't get top NFL money (at least initially), but he'll earn a buttload more than he ever would in the NRL. Can only see him as a RB/TE in the future after being a punt returner.

Not cut up about him leaving either, but I hope Inglis doesn't follow suit, as he's probably the most "NFL ready" player in the NRL.

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

My $0.02 on Jarryd Hayne:I've been fortunate enough to coach some players who will make the NFL in the not too distant future. They have freakish athleticism (bench 200kg+, squat even more and run a 4.6s 40yd at ~120kg and know all the ins and outs of the game.
Hayne absolutely is a freakish athlete, but his abilities certainly do not stand out compared to what is being produced at a college level here - and I'm not even talking about an SEC powerhouse or Florida State or Oregon; I'm talking about a mid major in a smaller conference - and on top of this, his football IQ is close to zero: he's never ran a route, pass blocked or audibles coverage if he were to play DB. No team is going to sign him as a special teams guy because guys can already do that job and better. He's a waste of a practice squad spot because the amount coaching to get him up to speed isn't worth it.
Kudos to him to have the guts to make his call, and I don't for a second doubt his abilities as an athlete, but the chances of him making a roster and staying on it for very long are in my opinion slim to none.

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

I hope he fails. Less chance of them targeting other players, and he comes back to league.

Re: Jarryd Hayne ---> NFL

He will NEVER play TE.

So your telling me his body size, catching ability and speed doesn't fit the role of a h back non traditional tight end? LOL. You couldn't be more wrong.

I think you are right mang. That's why this is such a risk for him. NFL league minimum is like 420k, but that's only if he makes the team and not the practice squad. Considering his earning potential during these peaks years in League, international Union etc...it's a massive gamble for him.
