JHARAL Yow Yeh will end 13 months of torment and make his rugby league return via the Intrust Super Cup today.

Yow Yeh will return for the Norths Devils FOGS Cup team against the Ipswich Jets at Bishop Park - the first step back for the former Test winger.

Norths Devils chief executive Mark Murray was tight-lipped when asked about the representative winger's comeback, saying only: "The Broncos are the only ones who could tell you about Jharal".

It is understood Yow Yeh, still only 23, will play in the centres for the Devils team today and that will be his long-term position, easing the need for him to leap for the ball after his horror leg injury.

Yow Yeh suffered a compound fracture of his ankle against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 4 last year in Perth when he jumped for a high ball and landed on an awkward angle.

The injury required eight operations in 10 months and left Yow Yeh wondering whether he would ever play NRL again.

The Queensland State of Origin flyer had hoped to be available for Brisbane's season opener but clean-up surgery in January sent him back to the drawing board.

He will be delighted just to take the field again.
