I reckon the Cowboys will go close provided they don't lose any stars to injuries. Thurston and Bowen together again will be great to watch. I reckon they'll have a red hot crack at the title with those 2 both on the park along with Payne and Tonga.

I think he's meaning that it's inferred that because Thurston was ONLY on the bench of a premiership winning team, it's not counted as a "real" premiership, when in reality these days it's a 17 man game so even bench players deserve the same accolades of a gf win as the starting 13 do.

It's got nothing to do about being on the bench or not - technically JT HAS been in a premiership winning team but look at the context...

I'm sure everyone agrees - he has yet to be "in" a premiership winning team --> more so to play a pivotal role as well.

Yep. Thurston has not been a key player in a premiership winning team. Locky has. Kimmorley has. Cronk has. Even Lyon has played five-eighth in a winning grand final IIRC.

So yes, Thurston is a premiership winning player. But you wouldn't put his premiership involvement in the same class as the other halves in Origin 1 I've mentioned.
