The club has standards ffs! You lot would have us recruiting from Wacol.

Yes, because they are both criminals

And yes the club does have standards, at this point in time it's mediocrity

Carney seems to have cleaned up his act since being at the Sharks, he certainly hasn't done anything recently that would warrant us shunning him

*Places tin foil hat on head*

I wonder if it's a coincidence that the editor of the News Limited rag supports the team Todd Carney plays for?

I'm going to restart the Shaun Johnson circle jerk. Love watching him play.

Realistically the best signing we could make is a new coach.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

That's the bare minimum.

More likely 800K-$1 Million.

No way is he worth bringing in as our most expensive buy.

Short term fixes like that won't result in the success we want.
Carney is 26 and a great player. How does he qualify as a short term fix?

Re: The big Dugan discussion

Define great?

He's a good prospect who's yet to deliver consistently or in big matches.

Spending an exorbitant amount and disregarding the pay structure of the club for him is a short term fix, especially if the second highest paid player is the other Canberra reject Josh Dugan.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

Chris Garry is telling me via twitter that he has some news about the Broncos going in the paper tomorrow. I am gathering it is about Dugan but who knows.

Is he telling you privately or telling the world.

The big Dugan discussion

Like who?

Someone who can develop players.

Seriously, name one person other than Glenn or McGuire who has improved the last two years. Gillett is massively talented but Hook is not getting much from him.

Norman was supposed to be a talent and Hook has got nothing for him.

Hoffman looks worse the past year and a half compared to before that.

Reed has gone backwards since his debut season with Lockyer in the team.

Anything think Macca had improved since 2011?

Then there is Ben Hunt.

No point signing a young half if all we are going to do is let Griffin coach him.

Brian Smith and Tim Sheens have a lot of experience.

Mal has a great rep coaching record.

Then you've got good coaches in other roles like Daniel Anderson and Gus Gould.

Don't think any of them are right for us, but all would be preferable to hook.

i would hate for either of those coaches to be at the Broncos.

Brian Smith can not win titles and these days he seems to only be good for 1 year before setting the team back a long way.

Tim Sheens has done nothing since leaving the Raiders. ( apart from one fluke in 2005). his selections and performances at the Tigers have bee poor the rest of the time.

So did Chris Anderson, how well did he go with the Chooks?

Mal has a great rep coaching record.

You know what the key word is

Then you've got good coaches in other roles like Daniel Anderson and Gus Gould.

Gould is a pipe dream & even then hasn't done the club stuff in 13 years.

And Daniel Anderson, you mean the guy who left Parra in their current predicament Daniel Anderson?

At least there are alternatives, kudos. It's difficult to assess coaches really especially when you can't judge performances like you can with players. I just think it's worth being patient with Hook. This tendancy to sack coaches because things look a little dicey is a trend I really dislike in the current game.
