Josh Hoffman

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

The Bulldogs will have a fearsome back 3 of Hoffman, Perrett and Brown.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

As much as I liked Hoffman on the wing last year if he doesnt want to be here then let him go.

For those who said he looked happy on the weekend i disagree strongly. He hardly smiled and even when he scored it looked as though he didnt want to be there, well in a Broncos jersey at least.

Hoffman would be a good fullback if he had some ball playing ability. There is no doubting his attitude running the ball back and he is tough as nails. He just cant pass.

I say good luck to him at the Bulldogs if he goes there.

I'd rather see Yow Yeh on one leg on the wing then Hoffman who doesnt want to be there. At the end of the day you know that Yow Yeh will be his heart and soul into his performance. Will Hoffman....

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

I'd have to agree with the above post, I've noticed a change in him of recent times. Definitely not seeing that big ear to ear grin as much these days. Wish him well down at Belmore but once he dons that blue jersey there will be no soft spot for him

Inu or Jorris on the wing ahead of Brown, w/ Lafai and the other in the centres.

Lafai is out for the start of the season.

If you are going to correct someone can you please use some facts. Pretty basic request, no?

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

I say we let him go. The bulldogs could've played hard ball like the Raiders did. Just don't let him get a pay rise. We have the depth to cover him. At least he's still giving it his all. Good luck to him in what ever he chooses.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Massive disappointment, but ffs, we don't need to resort to being petty grubs like Bulldogs & Raiders fans. Demands like waiting until after the bulldogs game to allow the transfer is just stooping to their level. So is expecting him to play out his contract while unhappy. Cut our losses, and take the high ground like we would expect the Broncos to do.

In saying that, **** the Bulldogs. To claim that they facilitated the release of Barba, and expect us to do the same, is just lowlife bullshit. They wanted him fucking gone, and they had underlying reasons that they hid from the NRL and the public until the deal had already been done. The fact that the media are eating up that bullshit just sickens me. The Barba & Hoffman situations are not even close to the same scenario, and claiming such is despicable. Scum club. But we have to rise above it.

The two conditions I would deem to be fair, as others have mentioned:
* Barba transfer fee is returned.
* He has to be on the same contract value as his Broncos one for the remaining time period of his current contract. As much as I'd love the Bulldogs to have to sacrifice more of their cap, he has to vindicate his claim that it's not about the money.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Oh, the other claim that the Broncos are hindering his development is bullshit. He's never showed ball-playing skills. And plenty of other players that the Broncos have coached have learned when, where, and how to pass the ball. The limitation is all his, and if he swallows the Bulldog's tripe in that they believe they can develop that part of his game better, well he's dumber than I thought.

"New challenge"? As someone said, he hasn't even mastered his current challenge. I would have bought "A new/fresh environment", but "new challenge" just sounds to me like he (or his manager) has pulled out the generic wordsmith playbook to do anything to get him released.

I agree with you apart from the part where he has to be paid the same. I'm happy for him to go as long as he doesnt go for less then what we are paying him. I know that sounds stupid but what if the Bulldogs offer him some backended deal where Hoffman was only on 150K for the first year with some clause that says he will play fullback etc. Thats a bargain for the bulldogs. He should be paid as much as his current contract or more not any less.

I dont care if the Bulldogs pay over's for him. That only helps us in the long term. I just dont want them to pay under's.

I say let him rot in QLD Cup. This isn't close to the Barba situation, he doesn't need to be closer to family, he just wants out. This is a guy who at the end of 2012 went onto the field and by his own admission played soft. Now he's chucking a hissy fit because a more talented player is getting his preferred position. We dumped Hodges to reserve grade when he announced he was leaving, I say we do the same to Hoffman. It's too late to get any sort of cap benefit by releasing him so I say make an example of him.

Agree with this pretty much.

If the bulldogs want him so bad then give us money or a player.

If he doesn't want to be here let him go, cos I sure as hell don't want him in the team. The media slam us regardless but I don't want to do the same petty shit as other clubs. Release him now, **** this waiting until after we play the dogs. Release him with instructions that he must play fullback against us, so they can see how much playing a centre with zero ball playing skills at FB can **** your chances

No one wins in that situation though, the Broncos just come across as looking like a terrible club. Hoffman would have plenty of mates at the club, do you think it would go down well with the rest of the playing roster if that was the stance that the clubs management took?
Do you think it makes us more attractive to off contract players to make Hoffman rot in Qld cup?

Also, has Hoffman really chucked a hissy fit? He has put through a request to leave through his manager but by all accounts he is still turning up to training and from what i saw of the nines, he is still putting in for the club.
A hissy fit is drinking alcohol on roofs, saying you hate the coach on social media and not turning up to training.

Statistically, the worst Brisbane Broncos team of all time.

Can you blame the club for getting tough?

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

I said this in another thread but if Hoffman wants to go let him don't ruin our season with this crap. Bulldogs did give us Barba we have to appreciate that they could go all raiders on us.

Bulldogs need a fullback.....so lets give them hoffman instead

After Round 1 release him

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Either play him or release him.... Being petty is something the Raiders would do.

We are the most professional rugby league club in the world... We need to act like it.

Re: Josh Hoffman, to the principles office!

Releasing him after round 1 is balls. If we release him (which I think we should if he wants to leave), just do it now, don't jerk anyone around. Would make the Round 1 clash even better.

Too true. A new challenge would be coming out and saying, "I'm gonna play to the best of my ability so that Hook has no choice but to play me at the back and make room for others somewhere else".

If he's just gonna sook it, at least he should fit right in at the Dogs.
