Bloody hell BP, good to see some old names there.

Good old Matty Hyland, mate of mine and still talks about playing amongst that lot to this day the bludger!

A lot of these guys didn't kick onto a NRL career of any kind. Just shows how hard it is to make it to the big show. For the record, the #10 in the U19 Qld squad is actually named John Clayton, the brother of former Bronco (Andrew) who also played for Qld (U19). Neither brother made it to the NRL.

Ta Accept, that was actually an error in the Year Book.

I remember Matty Hyland, BAlways. He was a real workhorse for that 09 Tigers side and was unlucky not to receive a look in at first grade. Unfortunately when he came in, the Tigers had a gun backrow, if he had have graduated post-Marshall, Heighno, Ryan you never know.

Thanks for this Pete - love looking at old team lists and seeing who went on to do what.

Very true, he took his footy seriously back in the day.
Never let's us forget it though, and if memory serves correctly he still brings up the fact he made it into RLL2 :lolwhataloser:

I went to school with Jay Aston (not Ashton like above). He played a couple of games for PNG. He was destined for big things, but was always going to be too small for the position he played (lock).

I played against Daniel Isaac. Absolute beast of a kid. The most memorable game of my junior footy career involved him. We had the one guy who could match it with him (imagine a shorter yet faster Corey Oates), and despite there being 26 players on the field, it was basically a game of 1-on-1. Just brilliant to watch.

Memories of watching them play for Wavell against Palm Beach Currumbin at Shaw Sports, handy footy players.
