Justin Hodges

You guys are far too negative, and certainly have showed no faith..I for one hope he proves everyone wrong, as on his day is a very talented player which gives our side a boost. He has also helped in regards to player recruitment as well, ie persuading Carroll out of retirement as well as Inglis to the club..

Be more appreciative, he loves the club.

Geez some of you guys are pretty harsh towards Hodgo.

He's expressing a desire to stay loyal to the club, something that's refreshing to hear these days.

Let's see how he goes after fully recovering for next year before we throw him on the scrapheap 'eh
Stay loyal? Was he being loyal when he jumped ship to the roosters for a few years before begging to come back? He's 'loyal' when it suits him.

Just watched the flashback of Broncos v Knights in 2007. That short clip right there is reminder of what Hodges brings to our team and what we have been missing this year. What a player!

He was, and will be, one the true great centres of the game.

Few can bust the first line of defence like him, or beat a tackle, even several. I for one will be happy to have him in the team for another 3 years at least. All we need is decent support plays to capitalise.

Excellent he's waiting out this year.

but he doesn't run good line like a centre should and he has a bad attitude [icon_drun

TBH I think it's been underestimated just how much of a loss Hodges has been this year.
He's easily (well before injury anyway) one of our best players week in week out. Hodges fit + Inglis and Hannant leading the forward pack will make an immense difference to our team.

BTW anyone else find it funny all this salary cap talk has disappeared now that we're playing crap? eusa_think

Maybe, but then, maybe his, ah, unorthodoxy is part of what makes him so effective.

Imagine when Kempy's back outside either Hodgo or Inglis!

What makes him effective is when his attitude is right. That's been rare since 2007.

I suspect after sitting out the year we might see a good attitude next year. Plus he has stated he wants to prove the doubters wrong that he can't make it back.

That applies pretty much to the whole side ATM

Of course it does. And much of that comes from the ridiculously high turnover of players. The Broncos culture has been badly diluted since 2006, to the point that only Lockyer, Thaiday and Parker have any idea what being a Bronco is meant to be about.

I don't know about diluted. It's just changed from the Webcke/Thorn/Civo era into a new era that's yet to be defined. It wouldn't be the first time the entire club's style and attitude has changed, it happened after Langer initially retired.

As for Hodges' attitude towards the club, he certainly cares more than most. Need I remind you about his part in signing Carroll to steel the Broncos defence? Or what he did for Yow Yeh in 2009?

Hodges might act a like a clown sometimes but you can't ever question his desire to win for the Broncos.
If he didn't have the odd poor discipline on the field, he would've been a good captain for the Broncos when Lockyer was out.

Hodges is easily in the top 3-5 most passionate players at our club. Even when we are getting flogged he's never one to throw in the towel and give up, so to speak. IMO Hodges is just the sort of player we need in times like this, the sort of player(like Lockyer) who can turn around the teams attitude.

I must say though under Bennett we never got flogged like this(repeated, disgraceful performances) under Henjak it seems to be expected at least one or two flogging periods per year. It might be because we had so many senior players who truly loved the club or it might just be Henjak's inability to coach, it may even be a combination of the two.

With the squad we had going into this year we simply couldn't afford to have Hodges out for the whole year and then Lockyer miss 6-8 games on top of it.

I know this an old thread, but being new I didn't want to start a new one up at risk of upsetting the locals :).

This article today on Justin Hodges speaking about Ben Barba - Justin Hodges admits Ben Barba is struggling to find his best form in Brisbane | News.com.au

Hodges seems to be very straight up in a lot of his media interviews. I know a lot of what he says is quoted out of context, but he seems just about the only person in the Broncos camp who calls a spade a spade. Do you guys think it is a good thing or a bad thing? I know the Hoffman quotes he did a little while ago caused a bit of a stir.

Maybe he is trying to prepare himself for a post-career media role being like Gordon Tallis as the 'bad guy'? Maybe he just feels like it is his responsibility to tell things as they are and put a rocket up the players? Personally I like his approach.

He is just saying it the way he sees it, something that's very rarely seen these days amongst players.
