Kahu has to goal kick

While we're all wanting Parker to move on from goal kicking, Kahu probably isn't a full time answer at this stage, his career % is actually lower than Parker's at the moment.

Not sure what to suggest, why can't there be a winger running around that's good at scoring tries, safe under the high ball and an 80%+ goal kicker. The only name that springs to mind is Kyle Feldt, from memory he was a really promising goal kicker in the younger grades / queensland cup.

I don't want that **** anywhere near this club, I don't care if he kicks at 100%.

But there is - Jordan Kahu.

If he was given the role full time, I have no doubt his goal kicking would reach a consistently high quality level. His technique is excellent already.

I'd like to give him the rest of the season for sure, just to see if he is up to it, but I mean he's like 70% for his career, maybe he would improve with a full season as goal kicker, who knows really.

James Roberts is the best goal kicker at the club.

Oh come on Beads... he'd line up the kick, take 4 steps back, move forward to kick, and end up across the other side of field with the ball still on the tee

Kahu's career % is worse than Parker's & Kahu has less of a sample size so it is not a sure thing that he will be better than Parker.

Worth noting Parker's % has been boosted by our Bennett era tactic of taking the two - and that's usually from an easy part of the field that he would be expected to nail the vast majority of my time.... Maybe I have selective memory but Kahu seems to have significantly less easy kicks relative to Parker - we don't seem to take as many penalty when Parker's off.

Why should that matter? On Saturday night Kahu missed a 'getable' kick whereas Parker's misses were from out wide which, unless you are a top flight kicker are difficult kicks.

Even Cameron Smith who is a great goal kicker missed sideline conversions today.

Wasn't able to catch the game last night so can't comment on that one. His goal kicking form does seem to be down this season but from the times I've seen Parker kick this year, he isn't missing by much. It's not like he is missing them by miles, maybe a metre or two each time. He's hitting them fairly well but they just aren't landing. Maybe this is why Bennett is willing to persist with him.

I'm not exactly sure what point your making - yes sideline conversations are going to hard

But in terms of comparing %'s what would Parkers look like in the last season and a 1/4 if you took out all those gimme 2's from mostly straight in front?

I note they didn't get our actual kicker to embarrass himself with the challenge.

Well it's a weekly challenge, so it'll be interesting to see how he goes, also Kahu is yet to play it.

Kahu's kicking percentage at the moment isn't a fair indication of his actual goal kicking ability. He just needs continuity in the role on a more permanent basis. I'd prefer if Kahu was to take over the kicking duties full time.

Let him practice full time at training and get him kicking in a match environment under pressure situations. The only way he will improve is to actually goal kick during matches, but one or two kicks here and there won't really further his development.

Parker has enough of a workload aided with the fact that each year he is getting older. I'd put fatigue as the primary reason he is missing more than usual and I can't see his kicking improving further than about 70% at this stage of his career.

We need to look to the future, with Parker realistically playing on for a further two more seasons. With our current roster, I don't really see us chasing a player who is a goal kicking specialist and managing to fit him into our team. In my opinion that leaves developing Kahu full time, with Milford and Hunt as backups.

I've seen Thaiday kick a few of those before. He actually times it really well and hits them sweetly.

Kahu took all kicks at goal tonight ... does that mean he is now first choice kicker?

I would say he's now our full-time kicker. Good news too.
