Boyd is the ash graham of rep footy. Knows his job and gets the ball down when he has half a chance provided to him.

That's exactly what I said about Kidley a week or two back.
He is an automatic selection in every single rep team no matter what his form is or how long he's been out of the game. I have no doubt NSW will choose him too.

I don't think Boyd is in very good form at the moment at club level, but when has he ever let a team down at rep level? imo rep teams should be hard to break in to, and hard to get dropped from. If a player has done the job before, they should be given the first chance to prove themselves and as long as the team overall is still performing ok, a bit of leeway if their form is down for a few games.

I think it's important that rep teams are allowed to build a bit of a combination between players, rather than purely picking the current best players in each position. If you chose every rep team based on current form, it would change each time and not allow those combinations to build up. Even know the current QLD team has some exceptionally individually talented players in it, i think that they have been able to stick with those same players for a number of years now has allowed them to build good combinations in the team, and when the games are on the line, I think it's the combinations as much as the individual players that allows QLD to come through.

Buzz rothfield is going bananas over Boyd's selection labelling it a lowlight of the week. Boyd's form has been respectable for Newcastle imo but I wouldn't have picked him.

Can't agree with that. Uate has been a liability in defence, and there are no other wingers out there justifying a selection above the incumbent Boyd.

uates scored 39 trys in his last 40 matches. i think he kinda has reason to be in the team. the funny thing is that boyd isnt even a winger. hes being picked out of place, his forms nothing special, AND we're playing NZ so we dont need the best defensive wingers in the world.

and if youre going to play a FB on the wing, Hayne should be there over Boyd.

No way Boyd should be sacked. He's a strong reason Qld have won 7 series in a row & he has also done the job every time he has represented Australia. It's a good selection, and the selectors should be rewarded for being consistent.

Actually, Vatuvei wasn't even selected I think. Nightingale and Perrett will probably be on the wings, and they are definitely better than him. Unless they decide to put Sheck there, who'd be exposed even more than Vatuvei.

Sounds somewhat cruel but I hope Hoffman has a shit game. He's a winger not a fullback and I'd hate for him to do something that would cause Hook to second guess that.
