Kangaroos vs. Kiwis

After giving it some thought, Hannant or Parker deserve a spot over Thaiday.
thaiday hasnt deserved a spot in a rep team since like 2008 lol. nate myles shouldve been starting instead.

choosing kidley is an absolute joke, but hey, selectors always know best according to BHQ.

Sam Thiaday: Meh hasn't been at his best, Ryan Hoffman must feel ripped off.

Why? Since when did Ryan Hoffman play right fringe?

Thaiday is the best right fringe second row in the world. The only player who compares is Glenn Stewart and the guy has achieved bupkiss at this level. Sam has years of proven performances and they're much more recent than 'like' 2008.

Now, I'm going to third-man the shit out of the next person who spreads ignorance about our great and glorious captain.

I wonder who that guy was, the guy who won back-to-back Dally m's in 2010/11.
oh so now those awards are the definitive guide for who was the best player in each position all year? lol

just naming 1 thing wrong with that thinking - a person could get runner up to the Dally M overall player, be a different position to the winner (since winner automatically gets their position in team of the year) and NOT win their position in team of the year. the team of the year isnt voted on like the Dally M.

and again, its like how he keeps getting selected for any and every rep team - it doesnt mean hes deserving of it. it means the selectors like him.

No, AP is right. Sam Thaiday has been a horrible player since 2008 and I'm amazed he's still able to walk he's so uncoordinated. If he was a horse they'd turn him into glue. Now [insert any Melbourne Storm forward here], he's a true champion, moulded into the greatest back rower of all time by the god of coaching, Craig Bellamy.

if you think hes in the top 2-4 second rowers on form, youre crazy, biased, or both. no other way to put it.

as someone else said, what more can ryan hoffman do? guys an absolute gun, especially when hed be running off cronk and smith. nate myles has been infinitely better than thaiday for years, plays 80 minutes every day of the year, and gets a bench spot? cray cray.

even watamong and merrin have been better, and i hate watamong.

The Dally M award doesn't really hold a lot of weight with me either. The panel of judges consists of NSW journos who are total dribblers and the process in which the points are decided is dubious. I've seen some of the votes decisions and been left scratching my head as they've clearly listed the names of players they know as opposed to giving it on performance. Sort of like some of the Clive Churchill awards over the years. (Darius Boyd in 2010? Billy Slater 2009? Gorden Tallis 1998? etc.)

With saying that, Thaiday was clearly the best second row in 2010. Guy had it all: work-rate, foot-work, power, ball skills and had the capacity to absolutely carve teams up. In 2011, he was still good but wasn't making the same impact. That was a pretty average year for backrows admittedly, but if I was deciding on the award, it would have gone to Feleti Mateo who really saved his career in 2011 and helped the Warriors find their way to the grand final. He was also the highest polling second row that year, so clearly the judges agreed with me.

Snap back to 2013, and the reality is, the Kangaroos like to have specialists in their position hence they've gone for the natural right side pairing of Hodges and Thaiday. Hodges position is a little debatable, I'm sure some might argue for a player like Tate but I don't think there's currently a better right edge player than Thaiday. Even the guy who's currently dislodged him in that position for mine, isn't up to his level.

Yeah, that's right, an anti-Gillett point, whatcha gonna do when Petermania runs wild on you!

Facts > opinions
i guess its a fact that andrew johns is the best player to ever lace on a boot in the NSWRL/ARL/NRL since hes the only 3 time dally M winner. slater is also better than lockyer as he has a Dally M and lockyer doesnt. same with preston campbell, trent barrett, todd carney, matt orford, jarryd hayne, etc.

facts > opinions, after all.

Hoffman plays left. Thaiday plays right. he was picked for his combination with Hodges. If you're pussy hurt that Hoffman didn't make the starting side, fine. nothing to do with Thaiday.
