Kennedy, Release at season end? Yes or No?

Kennedy is ripped, he's got almost no body fat apparently. Almost no talent either anymore.

I'll believe it when I see it. If he is ripped, he ought to be a monster to stop instead of a pillow. It doesn't take all that much talent to run like a wounded bull which he doesn't.

Our back rowers (incl. Parker) bend the line and carry tacklers on their back better than our props, and overall, that includes McGuire and Hannant.

We don't have a dominant prop like Scott for example. Along with Hoffman, it's one of our weaknesses.

Hala maybe, if he can run for more than 10 minutes. Time for the young ones to step up and get a chance

Kennedy reminds of a Woolworths/Coles steak; colour and marbling looks good in the packet but really is just full of water, preservatives and additives so that it is bought from the shelves, but never enjoyed once cooked.

Gold. Now I'm hungry. But for a steak that doesn't require the pan to be emptied of brown water three times during cooking.

Re: Round 13 - Raiders vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

Not sure where to put this but sounds like if Kennedy does not get back into first grade he might ask for a release.

Yeah we need to free up some cap space for McGuire and Hunt.

Let him go. If he does find a start at another club, it'll be on pittance. Maybe he'll get a 600k offer from Sticky, cause **** knows he's desperate enough at this point.

If this is the case they need to release him. We can't lose McGuire over fucking Kennedy

Kennedy out for a month with a calf tear.

Martin Kennedy, you are the weakest link, goodbye.

Mills was only ever recruited as depth...

Barba isn't going as bad as you would like to make out, and almost every coach in the NRL would have signed Barba if they had the chance. he was never going to get back to top form instantly, and i think the lack of a genuine 5/8 is hampering him, because we rely on him to play differently (i.e. more of a playmaker than a runner) than he was at the Bulldogs, and it takes time to adjust). he is improving every week. I also think he was troubled by that ankle for a good portion of this season, but he seems to be moving more freely now, so i think he will keep getting better.

Kennedy has been a failure so far, but he had potential at the start of the season, even the QLD selectors thought that, but i guess they have no idea what they are talking about either.

I don't agree that the lack of a genuine 5/8 is hampering Barba because I reckon Hook deliberately wants him to be more a play maker than just a runner, to compensate for Hoffman playing his own game which is certainly not play making.

I think Hunt's game is being hampered in a way instead because Barba isn't always there. He's a FB after all. Maybe that extra load is good for Hunt? I am unsure it is.

Anyway, Hunt has to be kept, and so does McGuire. Kennedy should go. What a huge disappointment he turned out to be.

What a spud he has turned out to be.

I mean sit back for a second and think about it: what is required of Kennedy to be a decent prop? Run straight, run hard, suck it up and make the guy you're barging into hurt more than you do. Never mind bending the line or ball playing, the fact that he can't even put a defender flat on his arse is pretty staggering for a guy his size. Pea hearted, lazy and overpaid.

Lazy and overpaid I can agree with but pea hearted is not a description I would use. It takes courage to play league at almost any level but it is super tough in first grade and Kennedy has in the past played well enough in the toughest of all roles to be noticed and placed in an emerging Origin squad. He is certainly no coward. Criticism for his performance is merited but he can play the role, he simply isn't.

Lazy isn't how I would describe Kennedy. Just a bit soft is more appropriate IMO. If he just ran the ball up harder he would be in the team every week.

I hope either a) he improves and gets a spot back in the run on side because he deserves it(Broncos could use a big hard running prop) or b) he asks for a release.

Calf tear. That's an old-person injury, right? Is Kennedy so big that it's putting too much strain on his body? Playing for the Roosters he seemed to have a big motor, but maybe it's too much. If he's useless in his current state, maybe drop him back to the ~115kg range. You'd expect he'd still have impact (not like he could get worse, right?) but might have a bit more mobility to get in to better position for the collision on either side of the ball?

Well the fact of the matter is Wallace and Lowrie and Hala (shudders) sit above him in the pecking order.

I think he is a better player than the efforts he has put in to date.
