THE EX Kevin Walters

His kicking game is absolutely elite. I know they bung on about Cleary's kicking game but it wouldn't be any better than Reynold's. He's one of the sweetest timers of the ball I've seen and just drops it on a 5 cent piece.

I said it in the game thread, Stick Arey in any of the bottom sides and he turns them into top 8 contenders. If he was playing for South's we don't win that game imo.

I need to watch the replay but I do recall Riki making some great last ditch efforts to quash the rabbits' attack. I'm a bit bewildered with the amount of stick he's getting from some of the BHQ posters.

TMM was again solid at the back and you can see his attack is still slightly off. But that extra half a metre of pace he needs will come in another 3 or 4 games playing at the back.

Big Flegs, Jensen and Kennedy were exceptional, but Patty I have to say was just that wee bit more aggressive in everything he did. I suggested Kev start him from the bench to let him get some confidence - WTF do I know?

The brains trust at Souths have been made to look very sloppy with the Reynovation of our club continuing and dare I say it's even picking up pace.

I wonder how much 'outrage' the journos will show towards Souths? If the shoe was on the other foot they would be writing page after page in their urge to try and crucify us.

Ha ha - I'm feeling it!!!!!!

Nothing surprises me with the NRL anymore. Can't even keep their tables fucking clean and let the players and coaches do their dirty work.....

Reynolds gave the table a wipe last night .
Bit different more like tipping some rubbish into his lap . How do we interpret that ? LOL .

We cant be singing from the rooftops yet. There will be more growing pains with this squad. We would still struggle to put away Melb or Penrith in a tight one.

Things are still clunky but the ingredients are there for a top 6 finish this season. Just need them to keep the confidence and learn a few lessons at the same time. We really need a tight hard game to the wire with a big team, especially where mistakes punish us. Currently we are making too many silly fundamentals.

Sorry mate I'm going to be singing from the rooftops, I'm just thankful we don't suck anymore

Kev deserves big wraps for how this team is currently playing. He's been under a fair bit of pressure, Tallis even said so last night on Matty Johns.

We know he won't get too many praises but the style of footy this team is playing is brilliant. This defence hasn't been seen since 15/16. The backs are playing with such confidence. There has been noticeable shifts in Oates, Cobbo & Staggs this year.
Obviously Reyno's impact on this team cannot be talked about enough. I genuinely think we would have only won 1 game (round 1) this season if Reyno wasn't steering the ship. He is a second coach out there, and 800k-ish a year is an absolute bargain at this stage.

The only worry I have moving forward is complacency. We are 3 in a row and 2/3 teams are genuine threats. We should also take confidence in that we should have beaten the Roosters a couple of weeks ago. We haven't played a full 80 mins performance yet either. There were quite a few silly errors/mistakes last night which can certainly be worked on to improve moving forward. We are certainly a team that relies on confidence.

Hopefully its only up from here. Sitting in 6th place on the ladder is an unusual feeling, but one I want to get use to!

In the presser Kev (for the first time) credited Reyno with not only making the players around him look good but he also included him making the coaching staff look better.

I thought that was a pretty magnanimous thing to acknowledge. Very humble, not wishing to take any credit and giving it all to his skipper. He even went as far as to say that when he first met Adam in his house in Sydney he knew right away that there was something special between them right from the off.

From Souths forum after last nights game ;

Demetriou is a novice coach with little charisma or know how. The guy sitting out there who would turn the place over is Eddie Jones. Everywhere he has coached the teams improve dramatically. Plus he WANTS to lead us, he is a Randwick/Souths man through and through. All that is needed is for club management to reach out to him.

😄😁😆😅😂🤣

I think that's a fair point about JD, he doesn't seem to have much charisma.

All fair points but if the game v Sharks wasn't a full 80, it would have been pretty close.

Kevvie deserves a lot of credit for this "mini" revival. The Broncos are playing .500 footy in their last 18 games. Previous to that, they had won 5 of 36 (.139). That my friends is no mean feat. If he sneaks this team into the playoffs after winning only 7 games all of last year, that will make him a fucking genius.

As well as orchestrating clever acquisitions in Capewell and ARey, he has also made fringe first graders such as Billy, TMM, Jensen, Kennedy, Gamble etc. into quite useful players.

The goal line, last gasp defence these past two games is comparable to what we used to see during the 90's and 00's with this club. Everyone is committed and have their mind on the job and have been relentless under pressure. That is all on Kevvie as he was a major part of that great era.

I'm sure if the Broncos get hammered next weekend or in the future, there will still be an impatient and unrealistic core of the fanbase that will again be calling for his scalp and venting their rage under this silly header.

You have to crawl before you can walk and there will still be many forgettable and frustrating fixtures ahead but one cannot deny what Kevvie has achieved in his short stint so far in the top job.

If you win more than you lose you make the semi-finals. It's that simple.

We're still a bit off from top 4 with a serious chance of winning the whole box and dice, but at least we're heading in the right direction.

The tactics of missing out Staggs and going to Cobbo was (I'm sure) a deliberate gameplan as Kev knows for sure that they will be double marking KS all night which leaves a wee bit more room for the boy wonder.

I'm serious when I say that another part of the jig-saw puzzle is to find and identify a ref or two who will at least give us a fair go of the 50/50 calls. At present it seems refs are discovering new ways every week to find fault with our play.

I think a few in here expected a miracle job, this isn't a miracle but to go from getting belted consistently by huge margins to where we're at now, not sure many other coaches could do this as well as he has been able to do it, hard to not be happy for the bloke.

However, some had been calling his head for weeks now and aren't able to humbly concede they were wrong, so carry on, as we continue to improve.
