NEWS Kodi all but finished as Broncos halfback

I mean, going by this logic, Hoffman was a great winger and therefore he was tried and totally succeeded at fullback.
I know you don’t mean it and you’re just trying to prove a point, but did you really have to go this far.
Wash your mouth out!

I've not seen enough of him at FB to comment on his ability there, but I definitely like KNik as a super sub, coming on with high energy and speed in the last 10 minutes or so of each half

Whether you can run with a 3/1 bench rather than 4 forwards is up for debate I guess

This would terrify any tiring forward pack and put so much doubt in their minds that his presence alone at the 30 and 70 minute mark would be worth it. The added bonus is that he gives us cover for a few other positions. I suggest we send him to the Peter Ryan/Gilly school of defence to help him improve this area of his game. Then let him play to his strength which is his short burst running game close to the line.

Calling for Kodi to be our FB is exactly the same as Bennett trying to find somewhere, anywhere, for Thaiday to play. Sub or nothing sorry mate. Thanks for last year.

What do we do if the Broncos perform badly and lose this Friday?

Do we say Jack Bird isn't the answer at 5/8? Bring Kodi back in?

I think Kodi has lost a little confidence. He has to slowly bring it back so playing him off the bench is a good thing. Last season, Kodi killed it for us in the halves so he has the ability to be a REALLY good halves player. When our forwards actually go forward and are dominating the opposition, then Kodi and Milf both fire. Kodi is an important part of our team but for the moment, let's keep Bird at 5/8 and rebuild Kodis confidence.

No it's not. Thaiday is only there out of loyalty, not because he can bring anything more than the other options we have.

I'm not calling for Kodi at Fullback out of loyalty, but because I am absolutely convinced he actually could do a great job there, certainly when compared with who we have now.

How are you so convinced he could do a great job?

I'm not interested in comparisons with our captain, you could stick a bag of spuds there some weeks and say that it's a better option, and I would believe it.

I've not seen anything that fills me with any confidence of putting him back there. No doubt, he could do the job, but then I could too. Just not very well.

He'll have a lot of work to do getting the defence right, but he would kill it in attack IMO.

Because he has all the right tools for it, speed, agility, evasiveness and enough playmaking ability to absolutely kill it in attack.

While defense is still a concern, it's completely different to do it from fullback, than in the line as a half or even on the wing. I have no doubt he would put his body on the line and do a job, because heart is not something he lacks.
Also, defusing bombs on the wing against big tall wingers is completely different to defusing them in the middle, where he would have much better protection and no high ball specialists competing against him.

He also played plenty of Fullback before coming into FG, and did it very well.

The only fullbacks that are good at competing for the high ball in attack that I remember in the last 10 or so years were Slater and Hayne. The rest are mostly about just trying to bat the ball back which often doesn't really do anything.

See, the very same stuff I see, I have to disagree. I think he's a 14, or a brick layer.

As for before first grade. It really doesn't mean a thing. We could have 500 teams in the comp if players were picked on lower grade potential.

I see him more as a concreter. I don't see him as a 14 and I don't see him as a regular future first grader either.

Kodi got every opportunity to prove he was up to the task of being a first grade Half in my opinion. He either couldn't or simply didn't deliver. Shame for him but that's life. He may get another shot yet...
