If Masch is fielded, even though all the speculation you know if you play him he'll give 100%.

Honestly... I think we've always had a a ready made replacement for Alonso in Gerrard, and I think without being stoned for breaking up the Torres/Gerrard replacement Cole could really find his home in the hole, perhaps bring on Aquilani later in the game for Jova and shift Cole to left and and to be honest I've always thought Aquilani's best position was in the hole.
Gerrard against Rabotnicki was passing like a gem, and although he does spray a few (noone will ever be able to pass like Alonso) I believe he can open up play quite well and links well with Cole who was happy to run back and cleanup play when Gerrard was stuck bombing on.
It pains me to think N'Gog will be our starting striker and as much as I think he will turn into a solid striker it just sucks balls to think he is our second choice. Would Babel be worth a run at striker? I think he will come up trumps under Roy.

The team with Masch in it, looks ace. Except I'd have Maxi Rodriguez starting ahead of Kuyt.
Definitely agree about Babel. Apparently we could be signing Crouchy shortly, but even then, I'd still give Babel a run up front. In his first season, he did some brilliant things. That goal against Derby where he tricked two defenders was boss.
By all accounts, we could be signing Poulsen as well. So he might be deemed as Mascherano's replacement, albeit much more aggressive and ready to hack someone's leg off. [icon_lol1.

By the way I'm going to be throwing a hungee on Liverpool to make top 4. Our starting 11 is not that much different to our 08/09 season albeit without Sami and Alonso but I don't see why Gerrard can't fill that void and we definitely have a stronger squad with the like of Jova, Maxi, Aquilani and the likes.
Last season was a blimp and I know Man City and Tottenham have strengthened but I just think if we can keep our players fit especially Torres there is no reason why we cannot get our champs league place back especially if the top 4 drop as many games as they did last season. I said at the start of last season that lower table clubs will go for 3 points and that they did. I expect to see the same this year. Arse have an unfamiliar back pairing and woeful goalies it's such a shame Torres won't be starting. I expect a goal from Cole or Gerrard outside the 18 at the very least at some point in the game (you can quote me on this).

I will fall asleep if I see Mascherano and Lucas together in midfield.
Lucas might not be able to play anyway, has to play some friendly for Brazil and is meant to be arriving back in England a day or two before the game.
Plus, Jova is left footed!

No way in hell should Gerrard be anywhere other than just behind the striker, he is wasted everywhere else.

Mascherano is as good as gone apparently, fee agreed with Barca! Thought we gave interest up on him ages ago not that I am complaining, he is just about the perfect replacement for Yaya Toure. You guys are getting Hleb as part of the deal which if he finds his Arsenal/EPL form again can only be a good thing for you.
