Besides, knowing Bennett, he'll probably put Stagg at 5/8th for the next 12 weeks.

you can't doubt Staggs effort

Effort doesn't make him a good enough five-eighth.

Reliability makes him the best alternative to Lockyer at this stage. You wouldn't shift Marsh or Ennis there at this stage, and I wouldn't put Moon there.

Who else would you use? Perry? Ha! Give me Stagg!

i agree he isnt a 5/8s arsehole but really who else could you put there. Anyway they have won like 4/5 games with him at 5/8. Like coxy said do you want perry there instead [icon_razz1

I'm dirty on Locky for coming back too soon...again...to try and make the Test team. I have no doubt that while doctors would've said he COULD come back last week, they would've said it's BETTER to wait another 2 or 3 weeks.

Now it'll probably be 4 or 5 weeks before he plays again.

Locky: forget about rep footy and get your bloody knee right or you won't have to worry about rep footy at all! Or any football for that matter!

AMEN to that Coxy - pretty selfish decision on his part. I'd still like him for the origin series, but much prefer he's there for the Broncos.

Karmichael Hunt. Boyd to fullback.

But is Karmicheals defense up to it. He missed just as many as he made yesterday.

What better way for him to improve in defense and in playmaking than playing 5/8th for a few weeks? icon_thumbs_u

Far out, most fullbacks DO miss as many or more than they make. They're usually trying to tackle someone on the line who has already busted everything in front of them.

I like the idea but will Bennet make the move. I have no doubt Hunt could make the move he is a big unit all he has to do is put his shoulder into a few tackles.

Hunt sucks at 5/8, and Hunt's performance yesterday hopefully reminded some people around here how valauble he is to us at fullback.

He wouldn't really have to do anything different than what he does at fullback in attack. Pretty much make him a running 5/8th instead of a playmaking one.

Ok coxy i understand your argument but at two of the tackles he missed last night were infact in the line and he missed the same person twice in the same play.

Thing he has to learn is that Queensland and Australia a) don't need him and b) don't pay his salary. His focus should be on getting his knee right, then worry about anything else after that.

Queensland will go just fine with Prince-Thurston in the halves. I hope Mal and the selectors overlook him for the series now anyway, maybe look at him for game 3 provided he's played 3-4 full games pain free.

As a fullback I know quite well once told me "Not my fault - 12 other guys in front of me didn't tackle him first" [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1.

Your are totally right coxy its not like he has never played for australia before.

Does anyone really believe that Hunt has what it takes to make a decent go of 5/8?

I'd like to think he could, and I know its been talked about for a while now, but i'm yet to see anything to suggest he'd be anything more than slightly useful at best in the No. 6.

As Rocky mentioned, he is high value at the back. To move him now would be to the team's detrement in my opinion and would probably weaken us in two positions instead of one.

As I said though, i'm happy for him to prove me wrong should he get the gig.

Yeah, but your bro is soft :P

As for Hunt's missed tackles, I don't recall them to be honest, but as others have said, missing the same player twice in the one play wouldn't be any different to Lockyer :P

The way Lockyer is used in defence at five-eighth is more about him slowing down his opposite number, rather than try and unleash pain on them. Tackling hard and effectively one-on-one uses a lot of energy, and that energy of Lockyer is better served in attack. That's why they always try to have a strong defender alongside him in the line, eg Stagg or Carroll.

With that in mind, it won't really bother Hunt.

But, as Rock said, he's best served running as a support player at fullback. I'd keep Stagg at five-eighth, and maybe give Marsh a roving commission when he comes on, leave Ennis on for 80 minutes.
