It would be better if Kev just says it's an internal matter and we are all going over the options. but don't really care if he lied or not, he looked silly here and that's because he said to much and linked our new start with them staying.

In the last 3 weeks, Kev has told the media that Lodge and TPJ are free to look elsewhere, to Lodge and TPJ are not going anywhere, to Lodge immediately going to the Warriors.

Who in the hell is in charge of media relations at the Broncos? Why is there not some PR guy in Kevs ear telling him to stop talking about individual contracts?
This sort of thing will influence players decisions when presented with an opportunity to come to the Broncos and it needs to stop.

This is my concern and is making me really question whether we can afford to keep him on if he doesn't learn to shut up or give cliched responses quickly. He really is potentially toxic and I really have little doubt that the players are in fact confused when he talks to them.

I don't think we need anybody to run hard at the line with Hass. I think we need a guy who can do it off the bench so he can take a rest.

Let Flegler or Carrigan start at Prop with him so they can handle the passing of Lodge and offloading of TPJ, and just let Hass (and his bench cover) focus on running hard and gaining the big numbers.

I can't think of any props I would bring in though. I think Aaron Woods is available, but would we want him? Or could we just get Rhys Kennedy to do it?

Lodge helped Haas a lot coming out of our end taking the tough first hit up out of our 20m area..... The thing is though, our props shouldn't be doing it. This is a job for our wingers/centres in the modern game. Oates used to be the best in the NRL at it, mead can do it sometimes but hardly dependable, staggs could but shouldn't be from 5/8th, cobbo didn't seem bad at it (was Coates 2nhd biggest weakness in my eyes). I think it's why We signed the dragons winger, in case oates doesn't find form again. The best teams have it, we lacked it lately... gagai would help this if he brings his pre-2021 maroons boots.

My bet is he did a Bennett and diffused the situation by saying they’re staying so we don’t have to hear about it every day. The attention was diverted. Only if the panthers win the GF... the current rules play into panthers hands with Cleary's kicking game... although I think they have zero chance of competing with storm anyway

He doesn't really look like a middle forward to me.. .not really mobile enough for the current 13 and not really a workhorse to be that third prop.

He's a line running edge back rower that can put some shots on in defence ... probably needs to expand his game.

That's where Capewell differs... he runs lines for his half, plays 80mins and can get through a ton of work if you need him too. Can play either side of the field or slip into center if injuries strike. He also has that ability to cut back in field off a step or find an offload if it's on offer.

He'll be mobile in defence and tackles at 92% effectiveness.

Capewell just brings tons more than what Sua does right now and I'm stoked that he's coming to us.

It was inevitable I guess, but I'm still sad and sorry to see him go. Whatever you may think of him personally or even professionally, the Matt Lodge redemption arc has had some ups and downs but overall it's been a pretty good one! I hope he smashes it for the Warriors.

Explains Oates recall though....he really needs to earn metres for us in kick return yardage sets.

Particularly with Lodge gone.

This will be one of those moves that come 2023-24 we will all be like "geez, wasnt that a brilliant decision to move Lodge on".....maybe the difference in luring a Grant type guy to the club in a few years time...

Yeah cause all this talk about players leaving especially lodge haven't been around since the start of the year, same about chasing a halfback and Capewell. But yeah obviously we don't have a plan

Firstly wouldn't these decisions be getting made by Ikin now? Or at the very least they would all have input into it. It has been made very clear that Kevvie is to be coaching predominently.

Secondly, I think the plan has been made very clear in adjusting the balance of the team and getting in spine players. Why would you hang on the words said in a press conference by a guy that clearly gets flustered at a time that the club is negotiating these players release. What would be better for him to say? "Oh yeah we are desperate to get rid of these blokes, but don't tell the other clubs that because we want them to think that they need to pay a majority of their salary".
