True but I think if he can be serious more of the time he can be a good host. I think his role on ch9 was as a joker, he'll have to be more serious in this show and competition is good.

I remember when M Johns started on the Footy Show he was really good - he talked seriously about the footy. But like so many others before him the show itself wore him down and turned him into a buffoon. I think with this new show he will be back to how he was and talk seriously about footy.

Also agree that the Footy Show might be watchable this year - I think they will really tone it down.

But doesn't matter to me cause I bowl Thursday nights so won't be watching either of them anyway.

Matty was funny early on in his Footy Show career, but then Nine started expecting it of him and it became forced and contrived.
He's a clever bloke, knows his footy, is articulate and good in front of the camera. Pair him with Webcke and you have a great foundation for the show.
I'm really looking forward to it.
