Melbourne Storm and the great celery hat debate

Just did a quick ratio of QLD:NSW past, current or future Australian reps

Origin 01 - QLD had .62 Aus reps for every 1 of NSWs... in fact the entire NSW 17 bar Hughes were Aus reps!!

Origin 09 - NSW had .92 Aus reps for every 1 of QLDs.. only 14 of the QLD squad had played for Aus :(

...Since you seem enjoy using absolute rep players as a marker :)

current australian team. you seemed to miss the word current.

I just don't get this stand-over thing some of you seem to enjoy doing...like what does it matter if two or more people have a long winded debate or keep re-iterating their points of view ?? Nobody is forced to read anything and if they are enjoying themselves, why try and impose your own jaundiced point of view on them ?? If AP is arguing with any and all, what possible difference can it make to anyone else ???? God knows I seldom agree with AP but if he wishes to defend himself passionately or even illogically then where's the harm ?? Nobody has to read through every post before having their say and can simply ignore what they wish..live and let live

The topic has been done to death and just about the whole world has had its say so what does it matter ?/ Porthoz ???

I'm leaving this discussion for good because frankly I think both sides of the arguement including myself have lost sight of the real discussion, continue if you must guys but its gotten pretty pointless IMO.

The same word you miss when you argue against the validity of Wayne Bennett-coached Premiership teams.

huh? lots of wayne bennett coached teams had many current test stars in it, like the QLD team did/does.....

Well, to start with the end... it's NOT the topic! I couldn't care less how much people wish to go in circles in their discussions, as long as those are on topic. I doubt you will find many forums out there were the mods don't warn about taking the discussions off topic.

You may feel that way about this matter CP, but many other people may not, and may in fact get annoyed at the repetitive discussion and continued rhetoric about something that has indeed been done to death. Not only will this keep visitors away from the site, as it can make other people leave, as has happened before with other members.
This is the Broncos HQ forum, not the AP vs. the world forum, or the Bennett vs. Bellamy infinite discussion forum.

It's really not that much to ask that people adhere to the common rules of debate, one of which is to follow the directions of the moderator(s)!

This is actually a discussion that should take place in the Staff Chat forum, where anyone can put questions, ideas or complaints to the admin team. You can find it HERE

Because it has been brought up I remember what I was doing and where I was when I first heard about the salary cap scandal. I was on the couch watching deal or no deal and it came on during the news headlines. I want the Doggies to win on Sunday as my crush cheers for them and I don't want too see Melbourne win again. Just imagine if they beat us in 2006 I would be so pissed it would be unbelievable, still **** Ashton Sims.

Good on you Porthoz.......when they were arguing the toss over rules the topic at the time was {Re: NRL Rules Discussion } That was the heading over all the posts as you well know...after all it was someone with the power to move posts and headings around....I noticed you moved that heading elsewhere to support your point of view....whatever champion whatever......people don't leave a site because AP or whomever engages in a debate...they may cite reasons like you inferred but it will be for reasons other than that. It's like a bad tv programme, who forces you to watch it ?...do you say I won't watch tv because of a bad/distasteful programme..???hardly....no,admins are extremely important to a good forum but the role some play is just childlike..you know, my bat my ball type of thing...I like APs defence of his position and he's a hell of a lot more interesting than most on here....

certainly better than the posters on here who write..yeah...what Coxy said...

CP, you need to get your facts straight...

I moved the discussion about the rules from the "Finals Week 3 Discussion" thread, you can check that by reading the heading of all the posts after the first one in the "NRL Rules Discussion" thread.
I didn't do it to support my point of view, in fact I didn't post anything in that thread until yesterday, and shockingly, my post basically supports AP's point of view.
I did it because there was no NRL Rules topic within BHQ (and it is certainly something worth the debate), while it was clogging up a thread where the topic was the week 3 Preliminary finals.

Furthermore, to the case in point... well, the point wasn't about AP's debate skills, it was about the fact they were derailing the thread from the original topic, like we are doing right now. If you wish to continue this discussion, I'm happy to do so either via PM or through the appropriate forum. :thumbup1:

The doctor told me my nose wouldn't bleed so much if I just kept my finger out of there

Dogs vs Storm GF, surely you have to barrack for the Storm... cheering the dogs would make me sick.

At least we can cheer on the big three QLDERS.

Why "surely"? Storm can die in a hole for all I care.

Go the Storm ,fantastic team...love it when they win. Except when they are playing the Broncos and when they are playing Cronulla..!!!! 2012 Champions, legends..best team all year..oh so fantastic, glorious and great, exalted and exhilarating, wonderful warriors, fearless and fatal, glory to the Gods of Football, Melbourne...LOL

Don't get me wrong, I hate the storm but before we had the Storm rivalry, the dogs were big rivals too... and we had some powerhouse matches against each other... I don't think I'll ever be able to cheer them on... so in this case, it would be the lesser of two evils.

At the end of the day, one team has to win.... don't give me this "I don't want to see either of them win" stuff... that is obvious... it's about who you can stomach seeing win more. In this case... Storm. I have to say I'm glad the Dogs didn't win.

So does the 2012 premiership mean that the salary cap breaches were irrelevant?
