NEWS Milford Discussion Thread

Yep, Souths are absolutely pathetic for this, Milford despite what I think of him is an innocent man right now. He should take them to court and win.
Whilst I think he would have a good case it would probably take to long to get a result.
I think Milford just needs to bite the bullet and cut his losses. If he can get a contract in england I think he should take it and get straight over there.
He is in danger of being strung along here for no result.

He won't be able to leave the country, so he'll have nothing better to do than fight to make some money back because his career is likely done.

Done........?

His career is a long way from being done.

His career is a long way from being done.
It all hinges on his court case, he was already on a lifeline deal before, if he also comes with off field baggage I can't see many NRL clubs being keen.

There are some striking parallels with the start of the downward spiral of Ben Barba’s career, except Milford never won a Dally M or a premiership.

Barba had a heap of stuff swept under the carpet while at the Bulldogs that only came to light once it was revealed he had signed with us. As far as I can tell Milford has mostly been a cleanskin.

What's the ruling for the "no fault stand down" policy or whatever? Has to be potentially a certain number of years jail time for the charge given in order for them to be stood down down with pay while still under contract?

It's for crimes that carry a penalty of 11 years or more, or at the discretion of the NRL, if the believe the offence warrants it (usually if the offence is against a woman)

In this case the NRL won't need to make a decision, because Souths didn't register the contract correctly.

Yeh I wouldn’t know if Milford has done as much stupid / bad shit as Barba, but the one thing he is accused of is bad enough to lose it all, if found guilty of course.

I note reading on the weekend that Milford's lawyer, after reviewing the CCTV footage commented....we will most definitely be fighting the charges.....

FWIW.......

I’m not surprised. Innocent or guilty aside for one moment; by fighting it he’s got nothing to lose (except money) and everything to, well not gain, but not lose.

He actually said after viewing the CCTV footage it was absolutely self-defence.

If the CCTV footage is inconclusive or favourable to Milford, I expect a deal will be done with some charges dropped/reduced (or both) and he then pleads to one or more lesser charges.

After reviewing the Scott incident CCTV (police tazer), the NRL reinstated him.

After reviewing the Milford incident the NRL still refuses to register a contract

Hmmm
