Mitchell Pearce Incident

Wow Joel Monaghan the second. Sad news for QLD though

Seen the video. Not condoning what went on. Got pissed up. Off season, not in a public place. Nothing to see, move on.

Surely the NRL has to sack him. You have to set your standards somewhere. If they keep allowing him to get off lightly, he'll keep doing it. You have to draw the line somewhere.

Surely this is all just a result of his umm......depression, yeah that's it depression . I say let him play for NSW.

I can exclusively reveal its just a big mix-up.
Pearce asked Copley if he was playing in the nines.
Copley said, "**** the nines".
Pearce thought he said, "**** canines"...
Yep, they've started already.

Monaghan only left the NRL out of embarrassment. Pearce has no credibility left anyway. He'll cop a fine, be forced to "donate sperm" to the RSPCA, and playing NRL by April.

Oh boy, Mitchell, what have you gotten yourself into...

With any luck, this will be THE most embarrassing moment of Mitchell Pearce's life. Clearly he had one too many, got far too caught up in the situation and this incident is going to hinder his career dramatically. Given his past history, he should be stood down by the Roosters and will serve a suspension from the NRL. The minimum should be 10 weeks, maximum one year but he'll have to face something over this.

I also have to take aim at the media. While Pearce's behaviour was absolutely deplorable, the way Channel 7 and 9 framed their story was incredibly over-blown. While sex crimes are considered especially heinous, I dislike the moral panic that follows the situation as it prevents us from finding a suitable way to deal with these sorts of issues. Hopefully this is the extent of it, as I would hate it if the media engaged in another witch hunt where they chase any story so they can further their own ambitions.

Now is probably not the time, but what the hell - I don't like the Roosters chances in 2016. It appears as if the writing is on the wall and it will take a minor miracle for them to make the 8. This will be the biggest challenge in Robinson's career, and I'll be very interested to see what he does with his young charges.

If the NRL sacked Todd Carney and Joel Monaghan for similar acts surely Pearce must go. Scandals like this tarnish the reputation of our game around the world and make our game infamous as well. Pearce has been in trouble for this before and if they keep him while they de-registered Monaghan and Carney I can't see why Pearce should be given better treatment.

New hashtag, #DontBarkBaby

I love it.

I must be old old school because while his behavior is childish and obnoxious I don't think there is much in it. I get more pissed at the aholes scummers who tape this stuff and shop it the media.
AT what point do ppls rights to privacy come into it when they are being filmed without consent in a private situation then being beamed around the country.

It isn't fair to compare it to either the Todd Carney or Joel Monaghan situations. Todd Carney had a rap sheet a mile long and was on his third major chance after a number of violations. The 'bubbler' incident in of itself wasn't THAT bad but in concert with all the other offences, the NRL had little choice. Even then, Carney believes he has a fair case for unfair dismissal so maybe we'll find out whether or not the NRL were even in the right.

In the case of Monaghan, he took it a step further. Technically it wasn't illegal since hasn't criminalised bestiality but obviously in other jurisdictions it was an unlawful offence.

THE Sydney Roosters will strip Mitchell Pearce of the club’s captaincy, fine him up to $50,000 and ban him from travelling to England next month for the World Club challenge in the wake of his Australia Day lewd video. And the NRL is likely to impose at least a six-match suspension while The Daily Telegraph can reveal Pearce will also have an ‘immediate sacking’ clause added to his contract should he misbehave again and bring shame to the Roosters.
The Roosters were bunkering down around Pearce on Wednesday night after the NRL’s atrocity-free off-season was left shattered by a booze-fuelled 90-second video from Australia Day.

I would much rather see the NRL take a hard line stance against violent offenders then stuff like this. The bloke is clearly an animal on the drink, but I haven't seen stories of him bashing his MRS or king hitting someone.

Media beat up as usual. By the description, it sounded like a chick slapped him for groping her so then he turned onto the dog.
