What gives anyone the impression the club is about to start listening to what the Old Boys have to say? It would be a stunning 180 degree turn from everything they've done right up to this very moment.

As Bellamy and Robinson are seemingly off the table, we're not going to get access to any elite Coaching talent and on the surface it certainly appears that Walters is at least as likely to succeed as just about any other name being bandied around in an otherwise fairly underwhelming talent pool.

I accept he likely has deficiencies, but we have this astronomical footballing budget compared to all our rivals and if we spent some of it one recruiting some Assistant Coaches to perfectly compliment Walters skill set then I think there is a fair likelihood he's going to have some success with us.

Green may have a premiership, but again he won't buy them any grace period. Green would basically have to come in and have us playing as a top 4 team otherwise the knives will be out... and to me Green is no chance of working with this team and it would end up being a clusterfuck of epic proportions

Kevvie is a choice that gives them a grace period... even if we scrape into the 8 under Kevvie next year it would still be viewed as a success as long as we're playing some kind of decent footy and appear to have some pride in the jersey again.

Yeah I am on the Kev train as I have stated in other threads. Hook would be a good assistant, but I could live with him as coach if I had to, fairly confident he would be a better all round coach then his first stint.

I do remember the the reason I joined here back in 2014. To vent about Hook ball haha and talk up the future with Milf coming ect. I don't think he is the answer at all, but he has been in the fire and dealt with it all before. So he knows what he is getting into and the Panthers under Hook played a good brand of footy. He didn't get fired there for performance issues he got the flick purely to keep young Cleary.

In saying this Kev has my vote because I believe he can unite the club and improve our on field performances and that's what we need. Also watching old replays of him and Alf or even Ikin and comparing to 2015 its so obvious the influence he had in attack that year. With the new rules/speed of the game his influence would be explosive I think. He is all about keeping that ball in motion and going forward first. We need him.
 
The coaching talent pool is a bit thin at the moment I think we need to think about the next coach as a possible 'interim thing', just to get us by for another couple of years. There is just no real outstanding coaches available.

I think at this time I would be prepared to gamble on Kevvie with a 2 year deal, you just know he is going to be working hard and passionately for the club and he has given the club so much as a player, its a job he has always wanted so he will give it everything and it wont just be about statistics and a pay cheque, if he works out then great, if not you then look at who else is available.

I honestly believe that unless by some small miracle we can land Bellamy, Walters has hung on long enough that he almost certainly deserves at least the opportunity to prove he has what it takes to succeed here. Coaching at Brisbane is unique in the NRL and Walters is one of only a handful of people who not only say they understand this, but almost certainly KNOW exactly what it means to be the Broncos Coach and what comes with the job.

When I consider the likes of Henjack, Seibold and Griffin were all given their shot at this once proud club, some of them with far less runs on the board than Walters, it seems like Walters for all he has given to this place is at least as deserving of his chance as any of those other guys or anyone else out there of the currently available options.

Worst of all though, if we AGAIN choose to overlook him, we're going to continue that nagging question lingering around what could be possible with Walters at the helm. I think almost in a similar way to Wayne Bennett, Walters shadow will always hang over this place and whoever is Coaching it until he is finally given a chance to prove his capabilities right or wrong.

The man is Broncos to the core, has served a huge apprenticeship, and most endearingly of all, has reiterated his desire to always step in and help us out when asked, despite us shunning and discarding him over and over again for a number of years now. Let's not insult the guy again and lets allow him the opportunity to show us what he's worth, because more than anyone else out there, he's done his time here and he's earned that shot.

Would it not also be prudent to get Locky in to the footy department full time as a halves coach? If only to get him the **** away from the boardroom.

Given he was part of the crew that knifed Bennett I think he should have to do some penance away from the club but in the end it definitely should be kevvies call.
 
I like Kevvie but our future goal has to be to win a premiership. As a previous poster stated, quality coaching stocks are limited, and the likes of Robinson, Bellamy, Stuart, wouldnt touch us with a barge pole. So we are left with a B list which includes Hook, Kevvie and Green plus a few more we may not know about. Of those names the one most likely to win us a premiership is Green because he has already done it. I am not saying he is the right choice, just the best equiped. My choice is to go all in on Cameron Smith as player coach next year transitioning to coach when he stops playing. He has been under Bellamy for around 18 years and is a winner.
 
CM article just published states the selection process to begin this Monday, Karl Morris says Kevvie and Green both strong candidates and will be considered, whilst Green's agent, George Mimis, confirms he will be submitting his CV for the role. Green says he feels very much freshened up from his past month off and believes he has the skills to deliver us a premiership.

I guess once the new CEO commences in October, they would then have some significant input in the final decision.

Let the games begin!!

I'd love billy Slater involved.

His knowledge would be invaluable to us. Firstly we will currently have an inexperienced fullback no matter which way we go. Secondly his knowledge of attacking and defensive structures is meant to be 2nd to none. From all reports he was as involved as c Smith was in planning attacks and defences in games and at training.

He's still involved in QLD camps with Walter's so they probably have a good relationship

Oh, I hadn't heard that he's rejected the idea of coaching the Broncos. When was this? If KW desperately wanted the job please explain why he wouldn't entertain the idea of an initial 12 month contract as a trial period?

12 months is not sufficient time to implement changes and put plans in place with any degree of certainty. If Seibold couldn't get players to buy in with a six year deal in place, what hope does any Coach have with only 12 months?

2 years as a minimum, 3 years as an absolute maximum is fair for all parties and what every Coach outside of Bellamy and Robinson or maybe Ricky Stuart should really be on.

True but look how much better the team looked after one week under Gentle and he isn't even a first grade standard coach.
 
Bring Walters in and offer Michael Hagan and Matthew Elliot whatever they want to help him as assistants. Have Hodges’s involved as much as possible as well. Let Walters manage the team, let the rest of them be the brains behind the operation and have Hodges be the disciplinarian.

Bennett can coach Queensland and be a mentor to Walters, and I might start giving a shit about Origin again. He can also be affiliated with the Broncos somehow, aiding recruitment with his Queensland Origin ties. Let’s get the best people in to fix this shit.
