Who should it be?

Yes. It is also a reference to the very close friendship and ties they have together, even the same manager. I am not having a go at either in this context. I am as always, simply looking for everything that might be relevant in possible scenarios.

Their close ties are reflected in this:

I'm not sure that bringing along a player he both had a good relationship with and also was for the most part of his career a very very good fullback means Wayne's terribly unlikely return would mean he'd guarantee Darius a coaching role.

Isn't it more complicated than just Bennett returning and weaving his magic? How can that "culture" be changed when the same board who got rid of Bennett is still in power, and is then asked to re-appoint Bennett to a critical role in the club that wanted him out? Am I missing something?

Also, if Bennett, then it looks like we can't get Ikin, who many on here want as CEO, given his reported rift with Bennett.

As for a change to our "toxic culture", from Ikin's perspective, I read that, when appointed to the QRL Board as an independent Director, Ikin asserted that our issues run much deeper than just the coach. He is reported to have said: “List management and players win premierships, not coaches. Get the list right and the rest will follow”. Sounds like a plan.

So again, if that well reported rift between Bennett and Ikin is true, if Ikin becomes our CEO it doesn't look like Bennett will be part of our club, so he won't be able to restore us to our former glory, and the same board remains anyway.

I'm still trying to join the dots ........... help.
As far as I'm concerned, the board can eat a big, fat turd sandwich in relation to Bennett and do what's best for the club or they can move on. Who cares if they were initially wrong and will have their feelings hurt if Bennett comes back.

As far as Bennett and Ikin go, it may be an issue but maybe they can act professionally, and again act in the best interests of the club.

I just think if Kevvie is coach, I think he'll need some solid help to turn this shit storm around and I think Bennett would be perfect in such a role.

Yep, it worked well at Penrith with Gould and Hook.

Welp, Bennett and Kev teamed up pretty well in 2015. What's Penrith got to do with our woes?
Completely different dynamic in 2015, Walters was the assistant coach and WB was the coach. In Penrith, Gould a highly experienced coach could not help himself interfering with Hook's coaching of the side. I think there would be a risk of the same scenario with WB (perhaps not even deliberately).

Would prefer bellamy over Wayne in a coaching director role when he is finished at the storm.

I think Bellyache has already made it perfectly clear by now that he never wants anything to do with the Broncos again. And you know what, that's cool with me. **** the cheating **** and his brown paper bags.

I think it made Hook a better coach because it forced him to abandon some dumb ideas.

How so?

Yeah possibly. It is a risk but I think that is more in Gould's psyche to be in your face and micro-manage compared to Bennett. I think it could work. Put it this way, it couldn't get any worse.

Didn't Bennett quickly give Kev the flick when it was being noticed how big an influence he had on our attack. Made the claim he could not both be his assistant and QLD coach. A crock ofcourse, led to our gradual loss of attacking flair.

Yeah, I did hear that at the time but smells like bullshit to me as they are still speaking now.

Todd Paytens stocks rise with every game.
He has certainly stiffened the defence. Not a bad place to start.

Its been reported in the Courier Mail that Todd Payten will be offered the Cowboys job on a three year contract worth 1.5 million. So you can cross him off the list.

I'm not getting the Brad Thorn love.
His record with the Reds isnt good.
Did someone throw it out there and everyone else bandwagon the idea because he was a good player.

Brad could be a better league coach than a union coach. I dont think he has done too bad with the reds but he hasnt set the world alight.

Agree. Unlikely and remote. Like us getting the wooden spoon. However, I just like to remember what T. E. Huxley said, "I am too much of a skeptic to deny the possibility of anything.”

He's done a stellar job to get the Warriors to 9th on the brink of finals. Be interesting to see what he does with the Cowboys roster which is undoubtedly better.

Not sure I'm fully convinced he's an elite coach but definitely deserves a crack and that seems like a reasonable deal in the current market.

Is it though?
