Rumour about SBW getting signed by he roosters before the June 30 deadline, as well as frank paul nuaasala....

Surely a joke... there's no way they could get away with that. That'd be 3 of the biggest superstars in rugby league in ONE off season in place of a few has been convenientally timed positive drug result players. Even the staunchest "they just manage their cap well" supporter would see through it...
It's been confirmed that they have signed Farnk-Paul Nuaasala for a year. SBW has said he doesn't want to go back to league at the moment

I'm looking at the SBW saga from another angle. Is he using this as leverage to make sure his position in the All Blacks is assured? It's been reported for a while now that there is some conflict there. This could be his way of threatening to walk if he doesn't get what he wants, ie "I won't be going to the Roosters as long as I'm guaranteed selection for the All Blacks in 2019".

So expect a signing very soon?
The NRL has come out and said they would block any efforts for SBW to sign a contract unless it was a long term contract and it would have to be after August 30 if he decides he wants to hop..AGAIN. I'm surprised he doesn't want to go play with his dream brother at the Eels, but I guess the difference is the Eels have a cap

I wouldn't think that he would have to do this kind of thing to cement a place in the side even if there was drama amongst him and others at the all blacks, he's a excellent player

Former Sydney Roosters and Canberra forward Frank-Paul Nuuausala has work to do now he's returned to Bondi Junction. (AAP)
I’m hearing the Roosters felt they needed more depth in the forwards, and signed the big fella on a bargain basement $60,000 contract.
He will start the season with feeder club Wyong, and have to earn a first grade spot.
The para above is from the Mole. Looks like the Roosters are even exempt from paying minimum wage now too...

Just imagine if the broncos did that, it would be headline everywhere. It's going to take a serious footy team to beat them this year

And I can't wait until they do. Every team will be gunning for them knowing they're cheating cheaters, and when they get bailed out of the finals with a whimper it will be beautiful.

What makes everyone so sure he isn't on a second tier contract?

The increase in roster sizes, from 25 players in previous seasons, coincides with the abolition of the second-tier salary cap and means coaches cannot call on players outside their NRL squads without dispensation from the salary cap auditor.
To receive approval to use a player from the NSW or Queensland state leagues, a club will need to convince the NRL salary cap auditor they do not have anyone available in their top squad capable of playing his position.
The NRL posted this yesterday.

That article just explains exactly why he is getting such a low amount, and why the Roosters aren't breaking any rules here.
It also explains why I’m so sure he’s not on a second tier contract ...

but he can't be on 60k a year and in the Roosters top 30 squad ... as the minimum wage for the top 30 is around 120k

You should read the article. The whole 30 doesn't have to be paid a minimum of 100k a year. Only 26 of them.

Keep in mind he was released from his contract, and the Roosters are likely only paying a part of the contract.

the figure of 60k is still wrong because the article says players 27-30 have to be guaranteed 70k

Sezer off contract end of this season.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, I rate him. Would work with Milford.

I presume they only have to pay pro rata because he's missed the first three months or so of the season.
