Just saw that, why on Earth weren't the Broncs on the blower??
Starting to think we should be rebranded as the ‘Shetland Ponies’. Purposeless, all for show, bigger egos than presence.
Hodkinson would have been perfect.
Absolutely the perfect fit, no ifs or buts. No intention to send him at the end of last year and no intention (it seems) now, I'm dumbfounded.
Goodness me, he's not even that old for a half and an 18 month contract would have been perfect to allow Paix / Boyd to be just about ready to partner Milf.
Surely being part of a premiership contending team and a guaranteed starting half spot would have been enough to convince him to join us..
He would have been the perfect partner for Milford.
We wouldn't have got him. He didn't want to leave Sydney.
Did he come out and say that?
The one that really shits me is Pearce. He was never going to come up here IMO......he was always going to be in demand yet we're criticised for not signing him. Hodkinson on the other hand was on the scrap heap.
Sounds like the Broncos system. The Newcastle strategy appears to be: pay massive overs for average players from great systems/ 'experienced' blokes who are borderline past it
Flanagan is refusing to release Hodkinson. We'll see how that pans out.
The club has already announced it though. Has Flanagan kidnapped him?Flanagan is refusing to release Hodkinson. We'll see how that pans out.
According to who?Flanagan is refusing to release Hodkinson. We'll see how that pans out.
The Sharks have released Trent Hodkinson, effective immediately, to take up a multi-year offer at another NRL club.
Hodkinson joined the Sharks in 2018 on a one-year contract.
Sharks coach Shane Flanagan explained the Hodkinson release and wished the experienced half back all the best at his new club.
"It was part of an agreement we had with Trent, as we weren't in a position to extend his contract beyond 2018, if he could find a multi-year offer somewhere else we wouldn't stand in his way," Flanagan said.
"He has been very good around our club, we thank him for the games he has played and wish him well in his future endeavours."
