Elliott sacked?.....
He's just got to get his off field stuff right.
Glenn Stewart is at his wit's end with the Sea Eagles and so is his management. They want an offer to be put in place by next week – even if it’s an insulting level. Here’s a thought – Souths forward Ben Te’o has a get-out clause in his contract in his favour.
If he does decide to take up that opportunity and head to Brisbane, the club will have well over a million dollars to sign a forward. They’ve said no to Andrew Fifita but Stewart would have to be an option.
Even a Stewart package to include his brother Brett could be an option. Souths need a player with subtle skills and experience. It is unclear if they have any genuine interest in Glenn or Brett Stewart. Raiders coach Ricky Stuart tried to get Glenn Stewart to the Eels when he was in charge there.
The Sea Eagles management is fuming that the Glenn Stewart re-signing story is getting so much air time. What is really irking them is that it is being billed as a Stewart v Daly Cherry–Evans battle for the remaining dollars.
Manly do not want Cherry–Evans to get into next year as a player who will be a free agent – they want to extend him this year. It would appear that Dave Perry would
Teo back to Broncs??? Yes please!
No way. You know what Tiger we need? Freaken Martin Taupau. I knew he'd be in for a big year, but bloody hell he's been enormous for the Tigers. The perfect kind of impact prop we need.
Or Sam Moa - he's off contract next year I think. I wonder if he'd be expensive now.
I think he'd command some $$, seeing as he's starting for the defending premiers. I would also consider him more of a workhorse prop anyway (even though he does dent the line well). I have no idea when Taupau is contracted for, but he is exactly what we need off the bench. An aggressive hard nut who can keep on the correct side of sanity and not be a liability.
We've got props coming through the system already.
We need halves.
Someone mentioned Taupau but based on what I've seen (and it's not a lot tbh) I think Gavet is their really good impact prop. He was a handful yesterday and looks to make impact offloads at every chance.
We may have some young props coming through but not really of that mould (that I know of anyway). Frankly I don't think it really matters what position a guy plays but how they play it.
Manly chief executive David Perry has approached the NRL seeking flexibility in the salary cap to enable the Sea Eagles to make a realistic offer to Stewart.
