Burgess aside, the rest of the Roosters signings are really just Wyong signings.

I agree that the Roosters shouldn't be able to sign a SBW or Hayne, but really don't have an issue with their 2013 roster. They paid the price in 2012, endured a nothing season, then turned it around and formed the best roster in the competition.

I can't see the Chooks signing either SBW or Hayne for 2016. With that said, if they signed SBW for 2017, I wouldn't bat an eye-lid provided they lose a marquee player or two along with a few squad players.

Must admit, my first impression is always negative when it comes to signing players. For instance, I assume Burgess is on at least $300K when it's most likely less. I blame teams like Parra inflating my perception. When players like Hopoate are worth $800K, I begin to assume the worst.

Well the Roosters would have some cash around with RTS and Maloney leaving so that makes some kind of sense.

Both of those player's salaries combined, as of today, would be substantially less than what they'd have to offer Hayne for him to turn his back on Parra. He'd easily eclipse DCE as the highest paid player in the comp if he came back, there's no way a team with a squad like the Roosters should be able to fit him in.

EDIT: It's ridiculous if the rorters get Hayne but Parra lost out on Folau, who is probably lost the game for good now.

I already know how they're going to afford Hayne. or SBW. Or the Rabbitohs getting Burgess back. They'll use the (entirely discretionary it seems) rule to get them at half pay, with the NRL chipping in the rest because they were "signed from another code".

The 350-400k that Hodgo frees up wont give us the money needed to sign GI as the Lurker claims, especially if we re-sign Kahu, Glenn and Thaiday ... You would need a million to sign Inglis.

Sad to see. From the few interviews I've seen of him, a very humble clubman, just genuinely happy to playing his part for the team. Hard hitter, perhaps the hardest of our generation, but never dirty. He's done the right thing by not risking further damage, just hope any issues he has isn't debilitating.

I love watching him play....you can see players try and run away from him in the line as they know he's going to belt them !

A sad loss but a good call on his part.

Glad he made the decision, as nothing is more important than your health, but such a pity to see one of the most likeable players being forced out of the game.
One of, if not the hardest/best tackler in the game, and probably one of the most underrated forwards in the comp.
