NRL Player Movements and Rumours 2015

A few rumours floating around...

Robbie Farah --> Newcastle Knights
Will Smith --> Newcastle Knights (Panthers are trying to re-sign him)
Matt Lodge --> Penrith Panthers
Raymond Faitala-Mariner --> Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs (a few clubs are chasing him)

I think Farah would be exactly what the Knights need, it's just a matter of whether or not they can afford him. However, I don't think either Clydesdale or Randall really offer anything and Levi is really two seasons away from being a good dummy half if he's ever going to make it at all.

Smith was always going to get targeted, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of his. Yes, he was a bright spark during an otherwise dim period for the Panthers, but I didn't see anything to suggest he was anything more than a good back-up option and think the Knights would be better off looking elsewhere.

Lodge is on the outer at Wests after being charged with some serious domestic violence allegations. I'm sure Taylor is looking to move him on, and his original club Penrith would be an easy choice. I didn't think about it until the other day, but Penrith are light up-front and there's no doubt that Lodge has the talent to be the best prop forward of his age group. If they can deter him from further offending, watch out because the Panthers could have a real bargain.

Then we've got the Bulldogs chasing Raymond Faitala-Mariner from the Warriors. I thought he got better as the season wore on for the Warriors and he's apparently one of the Vulcans better players so I'm sure this could be a really handy replacement for Frank Pritchard next year.

Glenn Stewart getting the ass from Souths according to Josh Massoud.

Clearing some cash for a return of somebody maybe?

John Sutton was asked about this last night on Sterlo.

He said he was aware that there was interest in Sam Burgess coming back to the NRL, but that since he had made the English Union side, he was contracted to play for another season with Bath, so wouldn't be allowed to come back until 2017.

Glewart gone. I dunno, being able to get Burgess back, with the "he's from another code" salary cap discount would be mighty tempting for them.

Ayshford --> Warriors

That doesn't really make sense to me with all the young Centres the Warriors have got..

Hurrell - 2018
Kata - 2018
Allwood - 2017

When you consider they signed Jonathon Wright and played him nearly all season, it makes perfect sense

Sandor Earl is looking to get his 4 year ban downgraded to 2 years today, if successful he'll be able to play in the NRL next season.

Wayne has shown a willingness to offer contracts to "ex-bad boys" like Russell Packer, I wouldn't be surprised if we sign him for cheap on a 1 year deal for next season, just to spark a bit more competition in the back line, with Hodges & Vidot leaving we'll need some more depth anyway.

We're one game away from the Grand Final without two of our props. We don't need Taupau at all. We have that position covered unless we plan on giving away Ofahengaue or Molo which I don't want to do.

That's what good about Taupau, he isn't confined to prop, he can play anywhere from 10-13. He'd be the perfect replacement for Parker at lock once he retires, imagine what Wayne could do with that potential..

If Parker is secretly deciding to retire after this year then yeah, but I really don't think he will want to come here and sit on the bench next year and I think Ofa deserves a bench spot.

The only scenario in which we'd have the cap room and positional room for him is if Parker hangs up the boots this year (If we win the premiership), I can't see it happening in any other scenario.
