NRL Player Movements and Rumours 2015

I feel like 2014 Milford and 2015 Trbojevic are similar in ways, both great runners of the ball with silky skills, I could see him being a sick Five-Eighth personally.

Guess we'll see, assuming that's where they play him.

I feel for Ballin, given the years of service he's given to Manly. It would be a poor result to see him turfed to reserves, even more so than Farah at the Tigers.

That said, I think Parcell is going to kill it there. It would not surprise me to see him in rep discussions within the next couple of years.

I haven't seen him play anything more than his few wing games in the NRL side, but Tom T looks too tall and beanpole. Great for running down the sidelines and diving for corners. Snapped in to 3 pieces if a forward gets him in the ribs.

Yeah for sure, if he's going be playing Five-Eighth in first grade he's gonna have to hire Anthony Griffin as his dietitian.

The difference between Trbojevic and Milford is that Anthony spent the bulk of his junior career playing in the halves. It wasn't until he hit the 20s where the Raiders started to experiment and find ways to fit him into the side.

Trbojevic has always come through as a fullback.

The move would be akin to playing Josh Hoffman at 6 with maybe a bigger threat in attack but a trade off in defence.

The biggest problem with Manly is their coach. What has Trent Barrett done to suggest he can get the most out of this 17? I also struggle to think they'll be able to keep their best side on the field through out.

Taupau's signing would be a nice boost, but I'd still have them behind a number of sides.

Maybe Manly should try and get Ben Barba to partner DCE in the halves. It seems obvious to me but it remains to be seen whether they could fit him under the cap.

Penrith Panthers playmaker Jamie Soward shopped to rival clubs

Jamie Soward has been shopped to rival clubs in a move that clouds his future at Penrith.

Panthers supremo Phil Gould described Soward as a "marquee signing" when he signed Soward on a four-year deal that would keep him at the foot of the mountains until the end of 2017. However, Fairfax Media can reveal the 30-year-old is free to leave early in a move that would allow Matt Moylan to make a Darren Lockyer-style shift from fullback to five-eighth.

Soward enjoyed one of his most consistent seasons in his first year at Penrith, guiding the club to within one win of an unlikely grand final appearance.

However, the former Blues representative was one of many Panthers to be plagued by injury in a disappointing 2015 that would have ended with a wooden spoon had they not defeated Newcastle in the final round.

Several clubs have been offered Soward's services, including the Warriors. However, the trans-Tasman club opted to instead sign Cronulla veteran Jeff Robson.

Soward seems to get on the outer with the clubs he's at.

Though he tries has heart out most games.

Gould denied him being on the outer apparently.

This. I get that they wanted to move Toovey on, even though I didn't agree with it......but to sign Barrett? Baffling.

McCrone + Faifai Loa to the Dragons

Parramatta has reportedly told Hopoate that if he wants to stay at the club, it will be for only 200k, that is despite him actually signing a contract worth hundreds of thousands more.

They have also reportedly told him that if he chooses to play with another club next year, he will receive no compensation or will pay nothing towards his contract.

not surprisingly he will continue with his legal action against the club ... especially as he turned down several lucrative offers to stay with the Eels.

I would love to see the Eels lawyers try to tell the courts that their CEO was acting beyond the scope of his powers by negotiating contracts with players. no way they will be able to argue that with a straight face.

What a fucking joke. The club simply doesn't have the power to make those demands.

clearly they are refusing to honour their original contract with hopoate ... which is why the dispute is before the courts ... he will sign with another club for 2016, and Parramatta will in all likely hood lose their court case and be forced to pay damages for their incompetence to Hopoate.

the only question is does the NRL force Parramatta to include any damages to Hopoate on their salary cap

It should. I suspect the ruling though will just end up being that the normal rules of an NRL contract will apply. So any amount that a team pays Hoppa that's less than his Eels contract will have the difference paid by Parra with it being inclusive in their cap.

They are clearly desperate to get under the cap for next year, as they know if they don't the NRL will nobble them (reduced points???) but they've only got themselves to blame. And pulling a stunt like this as well as the Foran saga will only hurt their chances in the future of signing elite players.

The Eels are a fucking embarrassment.

Complete rabble of a club these days.
