NRL Player Movements & Rumours

Titans have made the right call, Weaver will be a better player. They need to lock him up for four years now. He’s playing well in Cup. If he makes his debut and plays well their secret will be out.

Duffy two more years at Cowboys. Good move he’s had a calmness about him in Cup. His kicking game against Redcliffe and kicking the goal for the draw was calm and confident.

The Cowboys and Tigers reportedly interested in trying to lure Clifford back to the NRL

Tigers make sense but the Cows? Probably one season too early unless they are punting Chad?

there were reports earlier in the season, that's exactly what they were planning to do. the first "rumour" was Brooks now Clifford

Can someone please explain to me how during the Ben Hunt fiasco all the QLD clubs get "please explain" letters regarding making offers to a contracted player yet this is Ricky Stuart over the last week.

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart told News Corp that he had already contacted Fifita’s management and made an offer to the boom back-rower. “I have spoken to David’s manager this morning to put forward our offer,” Stuart told News Corp. The Raiders offer is reportedly worth $4million over four years.

And now the Raiders have backtracked and come out with:

“We haven’t put another contract in front of him, but if he was to become available, we would be most definitely interested," Stuart said.

"I believe it’s up to his management and David to exercise the option – the ball is in their court in regards to that.

Really over the NRL the last week. First Annesley tries to sell the fact Fogarty was going for the ball, Abdo absolutely kooks our QCUP bid and now watching what seems to be pretty clear bias around contracts.

because Fifita has a clause in his contract essentially making him a free agent next year.

Ben Hunt stupidly didn't have that same clause

Yeah man, you guys have been absolutely shafted.

The Canterbury Bulldogs will offer Gold Coast Titans forward Tino Fa’asuamaleaui a $4 million contract – and a share in a pub – in a controversial ploy to secure the Maroons’ powerhouse.

I'm not sure if you're taking the piss or not.

if you're not, then that share of a pub would surely be counted under the cap

on the courier mail if someone wants to break it down
even offers to buy them back out if they are unhappy

Yeah, Laundys (the dogs sponsor) is behind it. Although it does say they're seeking to clear with Abdo. Same deal as Tripp's dodgy betting company at the Storm.

the storm one ever go through?
id feel outraged if i were a tits fan and lost tino to some bs like that

If the NRL allow this to happen they may as well just abolish the salary cap as it will be meaningless.

The Bulldogs major sponsor is arguing that the Bulldogs be permitted to break every single TPA rule that the NRL has because the Bulldogs are a bottom club and have trouble attracting players.

the problem with his argument is that if they allow the Bulldogs to do it, they would have to allow all clubs to do it. I have no doubt we could find several sponsors or supporters to help us in the same way. we could steal Tino from them, then retain Haas with similar deals.

I did laugh at the following line from Slothfield: "whether fans from rival clubs think it’s an unfair enticement remains to be seen."

If we tried this he'd spend every day for the next month calling us cheats on the back page of his paper

anyway this is what Laundy said:

“It’s harder for clubs lower on the table like Canterbury and the Wests Tigers in recruitment,” he said.

“Some players will take less to try to win a competition at the stronger teams.

“That’s what we’re up against and that’s why I’m helping out.

“We’ve got to lure them in with a deal that no-one else can do.”

“You don’t want young players wasting their money on flash cars,” Laundy said.

“Their lives are back to front. Instead of doing a course and making good money in five years, footballers earn big money from the start.

“But what do they do with it? Some of them are so young.”

“If something was to go wrong, I’ve got enough money to guarantee them their money back,” he said.

“If they want out at the end to get married, to buy a house, I’ll buy them out.

“I’m very determined to make this work and help out Canterbury.”

Tino's agent Simon Mammino says:

“Clubs are reaching out but we’re leaving it alone until after Origin,” Mammino said.

“There was anger and emotion at first. Then he cooled down and we’ve got three months to solve it. “He’s a leader and a humble man who won’t play it out in the media.”

“Tino’s preference is to stay at the titans,” Mammino said, “He was close to Justin but he is also very close with his teammates. He wants to win a comp with this group. To move away from family would be a big call for him although it doesn’t mean he won’t go.”

That is dodgy as ****.

Pay them out of their stake... and I'm sure he would pay them out at the valued price and not at an over inflated rate... or maybe if the player was shit he would buy them out at a shit price.
