I think i read somewhere that the Lodge deal is a train and trial thing.

Taaffe would be a good signing for the Bulldogs.

If they can sign a 6 that appreciates a good chicken sandwich, they could have a gun centre pairing in Crichton and Burton.

Taaffe is a great signing if they get him. I think Burton is a potentially excellent six and their centre pairing will be Crichton and Kiraz, they have the potential to be one of the best in the comp. The Dogs need to spend whatever money they have on forwards and not just one out and out Star. They have so much money wrapped up in Mahoney, Crichton, TPJ, Kikau and Burton, plus over inflated contracts for all the youngsters they have poached, they won’t have a lot left over. They need middles because currently, they don’t have any who are good or even solid consistently.

Seems a couple of clubs are interested in signing Holbrook as an assistant... they think it'll give them an advantage when going after Tino.

Bulldogs and Tigers among them

It’s a train and trial yes, according to David Riccio it’s worth just over $1000, and the NRL are going to block it because his current contract (the roosters one that they’re paying him out of) is worth $600K …

It sets a dangerous precedent, which is fair enough.

Ironically, didn’t the roosters benefit from Lodge doing a train and trial for them? Don’t remember anybody stepping in then.

Bit of a dodgy pattern emerging with Lodge.

And this right here is the epitome of NSWRL Media hypocrisy.

They blow up about Broncos potentially getting Bhunt... but that's all quiet now so they release effectively a trade deadline article for which players each team should target before the August 7 deadline.

Weren't they saying only a week or so back that the whole system is a shambles and should be blown up

What they need: With Thomas Flegler and Jordan Riki not expected to return from injury until Round 22 and 24 respectively, it wouldn’t hurt to add a couple of extra options to the forwards stocks. Hooker is still an area that could be strengthened too — if the right player becomes available.

Who they should target: If the Dragons do give into Ben Hunt’s release request, no doubt the Broncos will jump at the opportunity to sign the veteran playmaker before the business end of the season, but that seems unlikely. Although Hunt has carved out a long and successful career at halfback, he’s played hooker for Queensland and Australia. Put Hunt in the No.9 jersey and the Broncos instantly become premiership favourites. Manly’s Karl Lawton would be a handy pick-up given he can do a job at hooker and in the second row, but he’s contracted until the end of 2024 and it’s hard to see the Sea Eagles letting him go. As for bolstering the forwards, it would make sense to try and get Fletcher Baker from the Roosters early given he‘s due to arrive to Red Hill in November on a two-year deal. He’s filled in for seven NRL games for the Chooks this season but he might not be needed for much longer if they don’t click into gear and start pushing for finals. Peter Hola has been one of the Raiders’ best in New South Wales Cup but can’t get a crack in the NRL side. He has a mutual option for next season — perhaps that’s an opportunity for the Broncos pounce now. The club could potentially bring back Ethan Bullemor from Manly. Jayden Nikorima can cover hooker/half but hasn’t played any NRL this year. Knights second-rower Brodie Jones, Dragons counterpart Billy Burns and versatile Souths prop Liam Knight are other options to strengthen the Broncos’ depth in the forwards.

Did you read it?

"Jake Turpin is off-contract in 2023 and has failed to cement his place at the Broncos and Tri-colours, but he is a promising dummyhalf with toughness and creativity. Turpin is looking for an opportunity to grow into a regular first grade starter"

I mean, these guys clearly don't watch league.

I actually for the first time in my life last night laughed with Hopper and and not at. It was a weird feeling because he was actually making a lot of sense about the Tigers and Seibold and then called Seibold a chocolate teapot under pressure. No idea where on earth that expression comes from but it is fitting.

Ha who actually wrote that article? I agree they clearly don't do their research. Didn't Bullemore leave Brisbane because his job opportunities in his profession post league are only available in Sydney (something like a specialised accountant/finance analyst)?

Moses Mbye off to St Helens immediately apparently with Joey Lussick heading to the Eels.

Flanagan trying to shop Sullivan around now, figured it would happen so he can bring his son in lol.

I think he would be a better backup Half than Madden for us and he can cover Hooker as well, he has very good game awareness for a young half.

He does have very shoddy Hamstrings though.

No, he looks and plays like an absolute idiot, not the type of player I want to sign.

He is playing in a team full of idiots, when the games haven't already turned to shit he has been very good, the Souths game probably the most notable.

He doesn't fit in with my no dickhead policy
