NRL Players and family members in hot water

Though I don't think the bubbling warrants a life time ban, I don't think the NRL needs to stop feeling intimidated by their stars.

Superstars leave all the time and the game goes on, soon everyone forgets about them. I'm stoked with Furgos contract being denied and I think the NRL should look closely at how his absence impacts the code for the rest of the year. My prediction is not at all.

Drink drivers, woman abusers, violent crime, sack and ban all of them regardless of their stardom. The game will go on without.

Sonny Bill left and will leave again, Benji left, Falou, khunt left, yow yeh injured, etc. These are all huge names that didn't commit a crime and the game as a whole didn't miss a stride without them. So piss of the actual scum and stop letting them hold the game ransom.

Disagree. Game misses Folau a lot and will miss SBW and Surgess next year.

Of course the game is better off for having them. My point is the game goes on fine enough without them to not tolerate players who act like thugs.

Without the tainted players like Carney, absolutely the game will go on fine enough without them. What I'm arguing is that the players like Folau who just left on their own terms are players the game is struggling to on without. Just look out how incapable the Raiders are of signing talent or the Sharks have finding a sponsor. It's the loss of these marketable players that hurts (and dicks like Carney are most certainly not marketable).

We continue to create guys like this, Rugby uses all their money on them and we eventually get them back. Rugby is like that girl on the side who gives you sex.

I get where theshed is coming from.

While the game would be better if SBW, Folau, Hunt etc. stuck around it isn't like their departures really hurt the game attendance or ratings wise and if players of their quality don't have that much of an impact, than players like Carney and Ferguson don't either.

Carney has become a punch-line and is nearing John Hopoate levels of bad publicity.

Yep. You worded that much more eloquently.

Really?

....I gotta start watching more rugby.

No one player is bigger than the game (well...'cept maybe Wally)

The next NRL superstar is waiting just around the corner. A superstar who wants to play rugby league.

I don't knock the guys who want to strike it rich in yawnion, but still..... I have to question their passion for Rugby league to begin with and
with that thought in mind, I would never hold any of them as "greats" of our game.

This talk around the place of SBW being one day made an immortal is just another nail into the immortal concept's coffin.

Will Chambers apparently being investigated by police after an incident at the Down Under Bar in Brisbane last night. Same place Mal was kicked out of last year for pouring his own drink.

The incident was probably the selectors realising that he's not particularly good.

Just saw the news about Will Chambers. If it has been reported accurately (which is a fat chance, I know) then it is a bit of a beat up. Still, for a guy making his debut and with an opportunity to have the position sewn up long term, he should've been in bed by 8.

Doesn't deserve to be there anyway. Hopefully this rules him out

There's not a single eligible player who is ready to take Tatey's spot, and that includes Chambers. It's really depressing when you think about it - oh for JYY or Folau.

Todd Carney appeals his controversial sacking by Cronulla Sharks

Todd Carney has lodged an official appeal over his sacking from Cronulla last weekend and claims two members of the Sharks board were not even consulted before the decision was made.

Carney's agent, David Riolo, wrote to the NRL on Friday accusing the Sharks of failing to follow the process for dealing with disciplinary issues outlined in the collective bargaining agreement between the NRL and the Rugby League Players' Association.

Riolo also said Cronulla officials did not have the courtesy to advise Carney that his $3.5 million, five-year contract had been terminated before issuing a media release to announce the star five-eighth had been sacked.

I heard the Raiders are willing to offer Carney a contract if only he agrees to an alcohol ban.

Fat chance of that happening he has been given a life ban and I highly doubt they will lift it.
