NSW Team...

So what's this "shadow" thing?
Will they train with the squad but still be able to play for their teams if not needed? Couldn't last games 18th man be used as a "Shadow" player instead of having to miss out for his club even when he wasn't selected?

Yes.

Good question.

Yeah they still can play even tho they can train with the squad. Basically the unofficial 18th 19th and 20th men

Yep. The only way that will change is if Jennings, Lyon or one of the forwards pull out and the shadow becomes an actual part of the team.

So if someone gets suspended could you name them as a shadow player which means if they werent suspended they would play the weekend before and that would then count as a game. Allowing them to play origin like the old TBA loophole?

Yes, but then you'd have to rule out a player in the original 17 injured after the other club has played.

So if you named an injured player knowing he wouldnt play you could in theory get a suspended player in. At least for the first go before the NRL changed the rules.

Yeah, thing is, said injured player would have to conditionally pass the initial medical the day after the team is named. Crooked doctor?

Well players tend to have a fair say in whether they're "fit to play", so they could get a player and then say he pulled his hamstring, not hard for the player to fake it especially when it's things the doctor can't really check.

Interesting loophole though, I wonder if we'll see it used during this Origin series eusa_think

Farah might miss the game, might have a rib injury which could keep him out, had a great game tonight too.
I wonder will they bring in a 18th (not a "shadow") who will probably be Ennis?
Wouldn't surprise me if they put wing at #9 and got another utility or prop for the bench. Farah would be a big loss, but Ennis is a very good replacement.

EDIT:
Farah, who enjoyed his first win over Parramatta with the Tigers' last victory over the Eels coming in 2004, said he hopeful of being right for Origin II.

"Someone fell on me and I twisted and heard a pop," Farah said.

"They're (ribs) a bit sore, I've got the ice on it ... I did it early in the second half and I got through the game so that's a good sign, it should be sweet."

Good things for QLD are -
- No Cooper
- No B Morris (who IMO is in better form than his brother)
- Wolfman is in and will get dominated
- Lyon is still there
- Watmough is in

Good things for Broncos are -
- No Barrett or Gallen for the game on Monday night

Next week will be a good week for Broncos fans icon_thumbs_u

Add Glenn Stewart to the list of good things for QLD. He is an average backrower at best IMO.

What player is going to say he is injured rather than play for their State, if they have been selected (with the exception of Lyon [icon_razz1 )

Way to encourage Wallace to produce a good performance by destroying his ability in the media...Bellamy, great work. ><

Its all a cunning plan IF they want to get a suspended player in and an injured one out.

Player X says I should be right for the game but Tuesday night pulls out injured. Shadow player Y takes his spot after serving suspension or whatever. eusa_think

I am suprised Wallace was picked again, going by his current form. I thought they were going to pick Soward, due to good kicking game. Especially as so many officials, commentators etc were saying that NSW lost due to their kicking game (well one reason anyway [icon_wink ).

Glenn Stewart is and always has been, overrated. I have no idea what Kite does to keep getting selected yet players like Cooper miss out, especially for Lyon.

Waterhouse would have provided more weight to the bench.

But with Gallen in the side, there may be a few penalties for us, and more so if Ennis has to come in for Farah.

Must say I am not suprised at all that they went with a new team. They never hesitate to wield the axe.

So if this team loses, do the selectors get the axe? I think they should.

Can't believe they've changed the halves combination yet again!!!!

Yep, they don't learn do they mrslong? They needed to pick a team they thought they could build on for the next 3 years and stick to it for the whole series.

Instead, they turf Campese out on his arse. AND tell Wallace he was shit and he better improve or he's gone too.

NSW have NFI.
