NSW - Will they do it?

1. Gidley (can't say I know what Stewart's form is like for now)
2. Hayne
3. Jennings
4. Cooper
5. Monaghan
6. Campese
7. Wallace
8. Bailey
9. Ennis
10. O'Meley
11. Topou
12. Hindmarsh
13. Mateo

14. Laffranchi
15. Kite
16. Gallen
17. Farrah

O'Meley's form has been attrocious this year, surely give Douglas or Weyman a crack, at least those guys are making an impact.

8 Bailey
10 Kite
17 Douglas/Weyman/Perry - much more formiddable than O'Meley! These guys could play a similar role to that of Hannant, come on for 20 mins, hit it up as many times as possible and tackle anything that moves. Was a great Cameo.

Yeah I considered Weyman, I thought I read that O'Meley had been the one good forward the chooks have had this season so far. Perry I dunno about, he has been pretty good I guess

Perry has not played a lot of football yet, he has had an injury. Weyman has been playing out of his tree, if he keeps that up, he would have to be a chance IMO.

That is what I am saying though. Farah/Ennis should play 80 minutes but if they or the 6 is hurt Young can fill in and if you have Mateo in the backrow/bench somewhere he can play in the backline if required. Picking backs on the bench in Origin is pointless if they can't play backrow, so why not pick a backrower who can play 6 or 9 and then if a winger or centre gets hurt (rare compared to forwards) shift G.Stewart, Gallen, Leffranchi type player into the centres.

Yep, once again I agree with that. And that's why I get confused when other people rate Gidley is a good utility player. He can't play in the backrow, and he isn't anywhere near as good a hooker as...pretty much all the other NSW options. His only real position is fullback. People wanted him over Hunt as the utility for Australia, but Hunt is a better fullback, he has played in the backrow in Origin, he's actually a pretty good dummy half runner and his passing is just as crisp, if not more so than Gidley's. Anyway, that's slightly offtopic now.

I don't agree Alec LOL, Gidley is better than Hunt in the centres, halves and hooker and has also been thrown in the backrow/lock positions earlier in his career and didn't let his side down. Gidley is an amazing player who will be one of your best players no matter what jersey he has on his back. He would be my utility for Australia and my fullback for NSW.

For the sake of it;

1. Gidley
2. Monaghan
3. Jennings
4. Cooper
5. Lawrence
6. Campese
7. Wallace
8. Kite
9. Farah
10. Douglas
11. Heingington
12. Creagh
13. Gallen

14. Mateo
15. Young
16. Bailey
17. Tupou

[icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1.

Should we just let QLD keep the shield then?

Please pick those three [icon_lol1.

Soward has one decent game in 3 years and people all of a sudden want him to be picked in the NSW team .... IMO, just shows the intelligence of dragons supporters [icon_razz1

You are kidding! [icon_lol1.

I know you have a stiffy for Hunt, however Gidley is a brilliant fullback, has played backrow when needed (& was just as effective as Hunt in that role...poor), Gidley can play centres and is a better 5/8th than Hunt.

Hunt is arguably a better fullback than Gidley, however that's where Hunt's superiority over Gidley ends.

Surely even the NSW selectors aren't that dumb that they'd pick Fitzgibon to both lock the scrum and sit on the bench?

[icon_lol1. don't count on it.

I can see it now.

Interchange 4/10: Fitzgibbon ON, Fitzgibbon OFF.

Would he have to hand a card to himself?

I rate that only slightly stupider than picking pearce in the halves.
