NSW - Will they do it?

Mark Geyer was dropped on his at birth. And every birthday they repeat the act.

I do like Best and Monaghan outwide on each side, they need people to counteract QLDs ability under the high ball.

there are a few selections here that i think NSW would be stupid to make...but none more than selecting Soward at half back.

A couple of weeks back after the Broncos v Warriors game, Geyer was talking up Peter Wallace saying he should be the first chosen. Next week Soward has a half decent game against Wallace, and now Geyer wants to have Sowards children. Soward's way too inconsistent for origin football. His chances of playing 2 good games in a row is about as good as Geyers 2 brain cells agreeing on who should be picked at halfback for NSW.

I wouldn't be surprised if MG's side actually won. It's just retarded enough to work.

Newcastle Knights fullback Kurt Gidley is shaping as a shock five-eighth candidate for New South Wales in the opening game of this year's State of Origin series.

The Australian understands NSW is considering naming Gidley and Sydney Roosters' Mitchell Pearce in the starting line-up for the series opener at Etihad Stadium on June 3.

[icon_lol1. icon_thumbs_u go for it. If not Kidley, then yeah, give Anasta another chance.... [icon_lol1. [icon_shady

They are mental if they play Gidley at five-eighth! Seriously, he's their best option at fullback IMO. Yes, Stewart's back, blah blah. But Gidley is an all round star and provides far more options than Stewart.

Anasta's in good form. If he had a decent halfback inside him (Wallace) he'd play better for NSW. Pearce is shit.

1. Gidley
6. Mullen
7. Wallace
9. Ennis

I think if NSW pick those 4 players they will go close to winning Origin.

I agree. Even with Campese at 6 they'll be dangerous.

Yep, Campese or Mullen are my picks for five-eighth (or at least, would be my picks if I actually wanted NSW to be good...I'm hoping they pick Andrew Ryan there...LOLZ).

Ha ha. Andrew Ryan. What about Ryan Hoffman? He would be epic at pivot.

Even just having those 2 guys in the team would be Lolz.

Ryan is in good form this year, but he's never been up to Origin standard. I've never understood how he made so many rep teams.

Maybe Brett Finch will get picked by his new club coach? ;-)

I'd have Campese on the bench coming on as an impact type player.

I know, he is a Stagg-like player, in that he can tackle and make a few metres but isn't particularly hard to contain. Probably got chosen cos he played with Mason and O'Meley in the Bulldogs glory days.

Would be nice to see Finchy in the 7, feeding the ball to his deadly outside backs in Quinn and Turner. [icon_evillaugh

Well Finch will play 6 at Melbourne. I think if he played outside Wallace in the Origin side he would go OK, admittedly without the backs he'll be playing with at Melbourne.
