NSW - Will they do it?

How Galloway got selected over Clinton is crazy. Clinton deserves a shot for sure.

As Rock said this is hardly a serious squad. It's the kind of preliminary squad aimed to fire up those that have been left out. And to make political statements (eg Lyon).

Wouldn't be surprise if 2 or 3 players make the final 17 that weren't in the squad.

Whoever they pick, without those dropped old warhorses, the Blues will be a serious threat in games 2 & 3.

To me, a team something like this seems pretty strong:

1. Gidley
2. Lawrence
3. Cooper
4 Jennings
5. Robertson
6. Mullen/Campese
7. Wallace
8. Bailey
9.Ennis
10. Kite
11. Creagh
12. Waterhouse
13. Gallen

Farah, Weyman, Laffranchi, Perry

I reckon they all sat down during the lunch break and just randomly circled players in the big league.
[icon_lol1. me too. Surely Hindmarsh > Hoffman, Minichiello, Tounge :!:

My revised team

1. Gidley
2. Lawrence
3. Cooper
4. Lyon
5. Jennings
6. Campese
7. Kimmorley
8. Bailey
9. Ennis
10. Weyman
11. Tupou
12. Hindmarsh
13. Gallen

14. Kite
15. Laffranchi
16. Waterhouse
17 Farah

They have no forward leader, no tough nut who the others can follow.
I hope they pick Perry softc@#k. Laffranchi, same, good stats but doesn't hurt.
Gallen is the only one I would regard as remotely tough but gives heaps of penalties.
Looking more and more like 4.

Hindmarsh would have been the perfect forwards leader. He should be almost the first forward picked.

IMO the squad selected is a shite-load better than the usual tripe the NSW selectors dish up year after year. Flopsgibbon, Flopsmarsh, Flopmason and Floppomeley haven't seriously deserved a rep jumper in three years. Maybe more.

If they decide to go for Wallace and Campese in the halves and have a forward pack including Minichiello, Tongue and Laffranchi, they're going to be hard to stop IMO.

That'd be a fair call to make. If you stopped watching football in 2003.

Ken Oath. Everyone on here always talks about picking teams "on form", yet when selectors do that, people get stuck in to them. A players reputation can only carry them so far. If a player isn't performing, sooner or later they need to be dropped.

I think the squad is good because it gives the kids incentive they are a chance and tells the old blokes they need to step up big time. Smart move from NSW selectors.

Bailey might just fit that bill.

And IMO, Creagh should be a shoe-in for their back row.

On paper QLD can't lose for sure.
Still, QLD have had an almost similar backline last year and just scraped by. If we lose, we won't lose too big.

Revised Team After Squad Announcement

1. Gidley
2. Monaghan
3. Cooper
4. Morris
5. Lawrence
6. Campese
7. Mullen
8. Weyman
9. Farah
10. Bailey
11. Laffranchi
12. Creagh
13. Gallen

14. Young (I know he wasn't in the squad but he is there best option as a hooking utility, they are too light picking a back or a hooker)
15. Kite
16. O'Donnell
17. Tupou

Only 1 prop on the bench because Laffranchi and Young can both move into the prop rotation if an extra one is needed but Bailey and Kite are both capable of big minutes as it stands. This team would give QLD plenty of problems.

I'd have Jennings in that backline somewhere, but couildn't agree more that it'd give us big, big problems. Picking a team light on rep experience but in red-hot form with plenty of enthusiasm is just what the Blues needed.

It was a toss up between Lawrence and Jennings for my last 3/4 line spot both are on about the same level and would be equally dangerous for us.

I think Hindmarsh is suffering from being the only decent player in the shittest team in the history of the universe.
