NSW - Will they do it?

Waterhouse and Jennings are ok selections, but they don't stand out as being great choices, more so that there's no one else to pick.

I don't know which games you ahve been watching, but Jennings is a burner and possesess a danger to Qld if he gets a bit of room. Waterhouse will tackle all day and with his wide running and off-load is a real attacking option. There is a lot of other 2nd rowers out there, but imo the 2 most dangerous for Qld would be Watehrouse and Creagh. Hope to God Laffranchi and Hoffman get a start.

LOLZ at Sterlo's team. Joel Reddy? LOLZ. McManus? Come_on.

BTW Coxy, as much as I love Lawerence and have huge raps on the kid, he still poses as a big defensive weakness in the centres so I'm not quite sure to be honest. I guess that's why you've put him on the wing, but then......I dunno. Don't think he'll be even half effective on the wing.

Starting 13 should be:

1. Gidley
2. Monaghan
3. Jennings
4. Cooper
5. Wolfman
6. Campese
7. Wallace
8. Bailey
9. Farah...Ennis...Farah...Ennis...
10. Kite
11. Laffranchi
12. Creagh
13. Gallen

Honestly that is a bloody dangerous team IMO. I sincerely hope the selectors don't go for anything like that.

I'm not saying he's not dangerous given the opportunity, I just don't think he's anything special over a lot of other possible selections that NSW could go for. Same with Waterhouse.

This time would destroy us...possibly.

1. Kidley
2. D. Williams
3. Jennings
4. Cooper
5. Monaghan
6. Campese
7. Wallace
8. Kite
9. Ennis
10. Bailey
11. Waterhouse
12. O'Donnell
13. Mateo

14. Presto
15. Sutton
16. Tupou
17. Weyman

Creagh, Laffranchi and Heighinton wouldn't look out of place in that backrow either.

Laffranchi or Gallen need to be in the starting side. It would be even better if it was them both.
NSW needs to make metres to beat QLD. Why have a full wide running back row if they won't get the room to do their stuff? Having two props and Laffranchi and Gallen would at least make them competitive against the monster QLD pack since Laffranchi and Gallen are pretty much the only two NSW back rowers who consistently make plenty of metres a game. The third spot can go to a wide running back rower like Creagh or something, who can work off the platform and room created by the other 4.

I dount this team would do any better than NSW have in previous years. Williams is an over-rated winger IMO - in the right team at the right time last year when he played in the RWC - If what he did last night against the Cows is his standard then he is an average winger at best - Israel would own him. Bailey and Kite have been dominated by Price and Petero before - why would this year be any different??? Your pack only has 2 yardage men, the others are wide running forwards who will have little chance to ball play if Bailey and Kite don't make metres.

I like the bench, especially Weyman and Sutton although NSW selectors are far too dumb to pick a bench like this one.

They don't have any other quality props who can cart the ball up like Bailey. End of story. O'Donnell and Waterhouse can provide some punch, they don't hit too hard when they go up the middle but they can do it.

As Williams, NSW really need a specialist winger. With my team they've got 3 centres in Mona, Cooper and Jennings. The only others I would have in contention for a wing spot would have been Josh Morris. Williams has only played two games this year so it's hard to judge his form currently, I'd go on his performance last year where he played excellently.

Whatever props they pick, they'll be competitive IMO.

I'm more concerned about the impact of say, possibly Waterhouse, Gallen, Creagh as wide running back rowers, given the ball they should get from the NSW 6,7 & 9 close to the QLD line.

Yardage is one thing, but it's what you do with it that counts.

I think the side that NSW should select that would challenge QLD the most is:

1. Gidley
2. Lawrence
3. Monaghan
4. Jennings
5. Josh Morris
6. Mullen
7. Wallace
8. Weyman
9. Farah
10. Bailey
11. Laffranchi
12. Creagh
13. Waterhouse

bench: Mateo, Kite, M. Minichello, Clinton

Assuming Michael Jennings and Josh Morris are injured then this is the team I would go with.

1. Kurt Gidley
2. Joel Monaghan
3. Chris Lawrence
4. Matt Cooper
5. David Williams
6. Terry Campese
7. Jarrod Mullen/Peter Wallace
8. Brent Kite
9. Michael Ennis/Robbie Farah
10. Luke Bailey
11. Anthony Laffranchi
12. Ben Creagh
13. Luke O'Donnell

14. Feleti Mateo
15. Trent Waterhouse
16. Justin Poore
17. Michael Weyman

This is the team I'd pick on form ATM:

1. Kurt Gidley
2. Joel Monaghan
3. Michael Jennings
4. Matt Cooper
5. Chris Lawrence
6. Terry Campese
7. Jarrod Mullen
8. Brent Kite
9. Michael Ennis
10. Luke Bailey
11. Trent Waterhouse
12. Ben Creagh
13. Paul Gallen

14. Farah
15. O'Donnell
16. Clinton
17. Weyman

1. Kurt Gidley
2. Joel Monaghan
3. Michael Jennings
4. Matt Cooper
5. Chris Lawrence
6. Terry Campese
7. Jarrod Mullen
8. Brent Kite
9. Michael Ennis
10. Luke Bailey
11. Trent Waterhouse
12. Ben Creagh
13. Paul Gallen

14. Farah
15. O'Donnell
16. Clinton
17. Weyman

I can't argue with this side.

We will wipe the floor with these boys .....qld 4 in row

With Campese and Mullen in the halves, I tend to agree. Sure they are in good form, but good form in NRL games doesn't always equate to good form in rep games. They both might set the world on fire, but geez, if they get overroared and lose the plot, things are gonna turn bad pretty quick. I think they'd be better off only picking one of them in game one, and pairing them with someone a little more experienced (Say a Barrett, Anasta or Kimmorley).

If we ( qld) are fair dinkum we will smash them in the forwards department......this is where we will have the advantage IMO......We used to always pick small forwards but now we have such a talent pool to pick from.
we will simply outmuscle and outsmart them.... [icon_wink

I hope NSW select Wolfman (the player who's supposedly so good people don't even know his name) against Falou....LOLZIPEE'DALITTLETHINKINGOFTHAT.

Are you serious? Our props are great but in their mid-30's. NSW will target them around the rucks all game.

Hodges knows he is no chance against Jennings in defence if Jennings gets a bit of room to move.

Our back row is good but I think they (and our outside backs) will find it hard going against a backrow like Creagh, Waterhouse and Gallen.

As for Mullen and Campese, they'll do just fine. Bet on it.

This will be one very close Origin series.

Hodges did a good job of containing Jennings when Brisbane played the Panthers.
