So what happened to sitting a year out if he didnt get a release? Really starting to doubt the legitimacy of it all being about his sick father.
Starting to doubt? There'd been enough info in the past couple of months I thought to put it beyond any doubt

Well I officially don't want him for 2015 any more, have fun in Canberra Anthony.

That is what i said yes. I was keeping the faith that he was a young kid who wanted to come home and be with his family and sick father and was just confused about the whole thing.

If we just signed players who wanted to play for us regardless of how much money is offered...

we'd have like 6 players.

Are we sure that this is legit though. From what 1910 says, it appears so, but still there is absolutely nothing on the net and nothing on social media either. The article makes it sound like speculation still. I also did a google search of Milford and found an article from the Canberra Times written yesterday that states that Canberra have approached Kevin Locke about playing FB next year??

Hugely disappointing is Milford does stay in Canberra, it either shows an incredible lack of integrity by Milford or a legally iron-clad release clause by the Raiders.

Edit. Actually scrap that, misread the article, Canberra approached Locke before Warriors denied him a release.

If the clause is "iron clad" .then this is a trick clause on the Raiders behalf .

Locke to fullback could also have been since Stuart said awhile ago he sees Milfs best spot as a 5/8

If it's true he's staying in Canberra, it's probably a combination of all.

"This will all go away if you just do nothing. Also, if you do nothing we will give you another $150K next year".

Depends what you consider a trick, if the supposed conditions were met then I'm guessing they wouldn't have a leg to stand on, the clause just obviously didn't contain being homesick or an offer from the Broncos.

The clause is rumoured to be about his dads health deteriorating which even Milf has said is not the case, it's improving and better than was expected to be at this point in time.

A trick clause would be one where the impression of compliance is given, but which has enough built in wriggle room in the wording so that there will never be any true intention of compliance.

TBH, I have really expected for some time that we were not going to get him. When it all went quiet after we signed Barba, it seemed to confirm to me that it was primarily his agent trying to get a good deal prior to Barba signing. The other big game changer may have been Furner going, because maybe that was also a factor motivating Milford to want out.

I don't mind either way, it would have been good to get him, but I am happy to see him stay a raider given they have had him on their books for so long. I will be interested when it does become official as to whether the increase includes an extension. If not, then that is probably a sign he is coming home in 2015.

If Milford staying at Canberra for more cash is true, then the Broncos need to get on the front foot recruitment wise and stop making themselves a laughing stock of the NRL where every grubby manager who is seeking a better deal for his client just dangles the "Broncos are interested" carrot in front of their current clubs and watch the upgrade money come rolling in, meanwhile we miss other players.

How about a public press conference where Broncos announce officially they've had a gutful of this cr*p and refuse to speak to any player or player manager who have more than 1 year left of their contract?

Broncos didn't want Milford 18 months ago when he wasn't contracted to Canberra, so what's changed? They were unable to tell that he is a good player in the making? Then find someone who knows something about football to act as recruitment officers for the club instead of the geese they clearly have there now, picking players like Maranta and Lowrie...

As far as I'm aware, we did want Milford 18mths ago. Canberra were only just able to hold onto him apparently.

On Milford, it's disappointing true, but shit happens. Confusing about his father considering he actually asked for a release but has since done a back flip? Good work by his manager I say, we're just the poor suckers that fell for it.

He probably can't get out and probably can't afford to stay on the sidelines for a whole year as he threatened, meaning he will have to stay with Canberra another year.
As a sweetener he may have been promised more money to stop making waves, although I can see Furner going back on his word (as usual) if Milford signs with us from 2015 onwards...
