[Official] Broncos sign Darren Nicholls

Given this guy has come from the NSW Cup, do you think this signing is Peter Nolan's doing?

for all we know, he might have been keeping a close on him while working for the Eels earlier in the year? Perhaps he has put him to Griffin and White as the answer to our halves crisis for this year..?

I mean if Hunt had a Kieran Foran running alongside him, I'm sure he could be as good as DCE... They were easily on par when they were youngsters, the difference since being a decent coach/s, proper development path (not wasting time at bench hooker) and having an actual half as your halves partner...

do the ipswich jets need another half? broncs already have a no.6 and he's been a revelation according to the media.

We ha a halves crisis at the start of the year. We have one of the games best up an comers joining us next season.

We needed to fill the gap for a year. If we played one of our gun juniors for a whole season before Milford came they would demand a higher wage, feel a sense of being owed a first grade spot, and be noticed by other clubs. All making harder to retain them.

We hire one of the best talent scouts in the game and tell him to find a decent half who won't cost much and will be desperate for any shot he can get. We put a player who will most likely move on next year, and would have left this year if we didn't give him a taste of a 'glory' position, at 5/8 for the strt f the season. Hoff does a good enough job to not completely sink our chances while we find an actual half.

We find the guy, move Hoff back to his best position (wing) and start our winnig run to the finals. Avoiding all the above issues.

Maybe hook is a genius!

Not sure what to make of this tbh, it would be really nice to have a genuine half for the rest of the season, even if he hasn't got any NRL games under his belt, give him a few weeks of training at Five-Eighth alongside Hoggman and Hunt, if he excels, throw him in there, if he plays well for the rest of the season we've found some handy depth if something doesn't go well next year.

I wouldn't mind if Broncos put him on the bench for a few games and ease him into it.

Bring him on for about 20-25 minutes, move Hoffman to left centre and Reed to the backrow. When the Origin period comes along, we move Hoffman to right centre to cover for Hodges and bring in Nicholls.

He must be decent was apparently named nsw cup captain for team of the year. He also steered nsw residents to a win over qld. No way he is worse than Hoffman.

I'm wondering what happens to him next year, along with our young talent time

Depth, lose one or two of them another club or 1 off them become so good that they displace the very talented Hunt, the future origin star, or the recent dally m winner. Seems like a pretty good position for a club to be in

Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2014

some history:

He played for the Queensland Cup team Redcliffe Dolphins, winning their player of the year award in 2002 and also captaining the side in 2005. He was then brought into the Brisbane Broncos camp/squad to provide cover during the State of Origin period where the Broncos are traditionally hit hardest with extra playing duties and/or injuries. His ability to complement captain Darren Lockyer on-field relieved some pressure from the captain. His form continued to improve and he played at half-back in the Broncos' 2006 NRL Grand Final victory.

Well, if I was Duncan Paia’aua, Ash Taylor (who plays this week after injury), Strasser, Nikorima ... I'd be seriously pissed off and disappointed.

I am totally opposed to this signing

I've got to admit I would be too but competition for spots is not a bad thing and who knows, this guy might just set the ISC alight.
