[Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

Perhaps just to head Canberra off at the pass, we should top up Milfs deal with Jharal's salary cap money, now that he's retired. A healthy 300k on top of what he already has is a nice swayer for such a young kid.

Are you really suggesting we give him another 300K?

This club must be really fucked if we have to do that sort of crap to get kids with 25 games under their belt to come here.

I would pay an extra 300k for his speed and ability to split the defense which he showed against the Knights.

It's a tricky one because he's not a contracted Broncos player so technically, the payments can't be under the Broncos cap?
Not sure how all that works, Roosters were paying Maloney during his final year at the Warriors, that has to be under someone's cap (maybe an exemption since it was the Roosters)

The question is simple: Do you see Anthony Milford evolving into a superstar or not? If yes, then this is a sound investment. If no, then why are we even making such a fuss about him at all?

For mine, this would be the soundest of investments.

It would be a tragedy not to have him in the side.

Assuming Barba hits his straps fairly soon, Milford and Barba in this side would make us so deadly in attack it beggars belief.

B4L ignoring that the NRL says its a rule all players must abide by do you think the Raiders and his team mates would be trying if it was impossible for him to renege? I highly doubt it will happen but that will be because he doesn't want it to not that it can't.

We've already discussed the possibility that the Broncos contract may have a clause that includes a not-insubstantial penalty if he reneges on the deal. Simple.

Can anyone tell me the benefit of this NRL round 13 clause. Why , if you sign a contract ,are you able to wriggle out because the governing body has some odd clause?

because fans hate losing players to another club - so they give the incumbent club the 'last rites', so to speak.

Yeah but. Sign the contract and you've signed the contract. It's become a form of haggling. That's it I'm walking out the door.

tbh im not sure that it works well having two light footed players on the same team.

For one, you can only have one fullback and secondly their is only so many times a player can go for a dance before it ruins momentum.

IMO reece robinson who was a weapon before milf debuted has hardly been his best with the lesser role, and someone between milford and barba are going to have less of a role if they are both in the same team.

PS. broncos fans complaining about the roosters salary cap, should remember the story about the pot and the kettle.

lol the nrl is an x factor competition.

My point remains.

Perhaps I should exaggerate it so it is clear for you.

If you had 13 barbas or milfords on the same team that team would battle. You need balance across the park.

Fair call Papa, no point having all the X factor in one position. It all depends if one can transform into a natural half which would make your argument null and void.

Exactly. We're not going to be putting Milford or Barba on the wing like the Raiders had to do with Robinson.

No but after having no players with Xfactor 2 out of 17 is great. One each side of the field. Does that spell it out for you? :-)
