[Official] Smith re-signs with the Storm

he's waiting to make sure hoffman wont be around to challenge his spot?
Nah. Haven't you heard? Hoffmann off to become CEO of the doggies. I heard it from the greatest.

Smith really needs to hurry the **** up. You either want to be a one club man or you don't. Decide.

My sources tell me that Cameron Smith is going to be in Brisbane this weekend and will be discussing playing at Suncorp!

Journalism is indeed that easy. Makes you wonder if they used a Journo to write Milford's Raiders contract.

Is anyone confident about signing him?

I rate Cam very highly he is one of the best players to play the game and I would be over the moon if we got him but he has a very close relationship with Bellamy and the Storm in general and the temptation of being a 1 club man would be enough to keep him there I would think.

Let me say straight up, I have no sources and no inside knowledge - just my speculation

I think Cam wants to stay in Melbourne and his wife wants to go back to QLD

If that's the case, it would be a tough decision

There is none percent chance he is coming to us. This is all part of the dance to achieve the same amount of publicity that cronk did. Don't get me wrong Smith is fantastic and a great guy etc. but there is no way he is leaving the storm.

You are a rarity these days :)

"That's Craig's opinion, I'm still a fair way off making a decision"

That sounds a little bit.. hostile, the odds of us getting him just went from 4:1 to 3.9:1

My Indian sauce tells me I should probably expect a big announcement from my stomach very, very shortly.

I suspect your announcement will be lengthy and convoluted. Its reporting will be very one-eyed.

Well the words might be short but the delivery will be anything but. Get ready for some hairs to stand up on the back of the neck.

This was very exciting, and I thought you were a well connected big-wig...

Until I double-checked the Storm trial draw :fish2:

Did anyone read the fox sports story. "Smith poised to stay with Melbourne". " Unless he doesn't". Journalism at its best

Hang on! Now he's staying with Melbourne again! Or maybe not. Storm bosses are "quietly confident" that he will, but he might still switch to the Broncos, but Broncos powerbrokers say that he'll sign with the Storm. Smith may still change his mind well into the season.

What the hell is going on?

Family will sway Melbourne Storm skipper Cameron Smith to stay | News.com.au

CAMERON Smith is poised to turn down a massive offer from the Brisbane Broncos and recommit to Melbourne Storm for life.

The Storm, Queensland and Test captain said this week he was still a “fair way off” making a decision on his NRL future beyond this season.

But the Herald Sun understands he is likely to finish his career at Storm on a multi-year deal that will be one of the biggest in rugby league history.

It is believed Smith’s preference is to keep his young family in Melbourne where they are settled.

Storm powerbrokers are quietly confident, but insist the star No. 9 is not over the line and could still yet decide to leave.
Bronco chiefs have ostensibly conceded Smith will stay at Storm.

Smith has publicly made it clear he is in no rush to decide his future.

Internally, he is said to be keeping mum on the subject and giving nothing away to his teammates and club officials.

It is now unlikely the matter will be resolved before Melbourne’s opening round meeting with Manly on March 8.

The club is comfortable with that, despite its preference of not letting the issue drag into the season.

Bellamy has previously stated he was confident Smith would stay after thinking the opposite late last year.

But the Storm mentor was tight-lipped on the issue when he spoke to the Herald Sun this week.

“I’ve got no comment to make on Cameron,” Bellamy said.

“At the end of the day I’ve said enough on it.

“We’ll see what happens.”

Smith this week reiterated he would do what is best for his wife and young family.

“I think it’s important at our age and where my family is at with three young kids that we make the right choice,” he said.

“There are other factors to consider, but that’s the most important right now.”

Smith will make his first appearance of the pre-season tomorrow when he leads Melbourne into battle against Canterbury at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

The star rake said he was the fittest and freshest he’s been in recent seasons despite coming off a World Cup.

“I had nearly 11 weeks off and I probably came back underdone and I was carrying a little bit of weight around the belt,” Smith said.

“I feel really good this year, probably the best I’ve felt in two or three seasons.

“I feel like my fitness is well ahead of where I was last year at the same time.’’

Smith is the most decorated player in the club’s history.

In Round 2 he will overtake Matt Geyer as the club’s games record holder.

Why we love Smithy:

261 NRL games

2012 premiership captain

2006 Dally M winner
2007 Golden Boot winner
Australian World Cup-winning captain
Queensland State of Origin captain

I say 30% chance says Smith will sign with us, 90% chance says he will sign with the Storm.

I got the extra percentages from the media.
