Our new halfback should be

These idiots are looking at the American baseball system and thinking they are going to be the same with their long term contracts. Only thing is, baseball is a completely different sport to league.

FMD, can ridiculously long contract not become the norm? Desperate clubs...
It's the flavour of the month. I seem to recall a number of similar articles when dce signed his long term contract. The reporters atm are asking leading questions regarding long term contracts which inevitably ends with the player saying he'd "love to lock up his future". It'll die down.

My concern would be his mention of liking to extend again.

Titans are playing way to smart with their contracts what the **** happened to the shambles they were a couple years ago!!!

The NRL owns them now. So I have no idea TBH.

What will you have to talk about then?

Good for him if that's the case. All anybody from here wants for him is a successful career.

Fixed - All anybody from here wants for him is a successful career at the Broncos.

:P

Apparently we are having a crack at mitch moses ! By the lurker that is

I'd take Moses over Brookes and especially if it means we don't have to watch Sandow in a Broncs jersey.

I must also admit that I'm starting to get rather tired of hearing about Taylor, if he is so in love with the Titans and not jumping at coming back, let him fricken stay there.

Yeah, he should be proclaiming his love for the Broncos while still in the beginning of a 2 year contract with the Titans.

Because someone forced him to say the things he did.....

No, but he could say, "I'm just focusing on playing good footy at the moment and we'll cross that bridge when it comes to it."

Instead of, "I'd like to extend my deal."

Taylor wants to stay. Titans aren't going to **** up again like they did with Roberts.

He answered questions the way any other player under contract at a club would. Next...

The cloud is you whenever someone says something about Taylor

You mean like this:
The Titans could sign Taylor to a long-term deal before he becomes a free agent, killing off any chance of the Broncos luring him back to Red Hill as Hunt’s replacement.

“That’s in the club’s hands,” Taylor said. “At the moment I’m just focusing on playing footy.

“If it comes around, it will come around. Until then I’ve got to keep playing some good footy.’’
The other part was in response to the 10 year deal, because no player would want that... right?

@Cult3 , I know it's hard when reality hits you in the face... but move on, or you'll give yourself an ulcer.

You mean like this:

He could have just said that and left it at that. But he says this, as well.

“The ultimate goal is to make sure you secure (the future), not only yourself, but your family as well. Being here is close to home. I’ve extended last year and I’d like to extend again.

This isn't just him telling people what they want to hear. He is expressing genuine interest to stay at the Titans for as long he can.

And we all know Titans want him.

He wants to stay at the Titans. He wants to help build a dynasty. It's going to take a monumental **** up, or a Hunt like deal (which won't happen), for the Broncos to get him.

How do people still take anything said to (or by) the media seriously, he could come out tomorrow and say he's never been happier in his life and wants to sign a life time deal with the Titans that will see him be the head coach for 15 years after he retires in 2029 and I still wouldn't rule out him signing with us for 2019. Everyone tip toes around the media and tries to say the most politically correct things at all times, even if it's not true.

There's literally no scenario in which a player who's looking to make as much money as he can on his next contract is going to say anything to the media that would indicate that he doesn't want to re-sign, because he's only going to hurt his value. If the Broncos believe that he wants to stay at the Titans, guess what, we're going to offer him more money and more years than we would have if he said he wants to test the market.

It's going to be a really long season if we're going to be dissecting every sentence that potential Hunt replacements say to the media.. How about we take a wait and see approach.

Again, that was in reply to the 10 year extension idea. You're as bad as the journos, making up shit and taking things out of context to suit their interpretation. This is the quote:

At 22, Taylor could play at least another 10 years in the NRL and said it would be ideal to lock up his long-term future.
“That would be a dream, to lock yourself up at a club like that,” Taylor said.

“The ultimate goal is to make sure you secure (the future), not only yourself, but your family as well. Being here is close to home. I’ve extended last year and I’d like to extend again.

“There’s some massive deals being thrown around. Ben Hunt (six years at the Dragons), Taumalolo, Cherry-Evans got a massive deal.

“It’s starting to become a common thing these days to lock yourself up for a long time. That’s just the dream for any player.’’

Then there is this when the Broncos are mentioned:

The Titans could sign Taylor to a long-term deal before he becomes a free agent, killing off any chance of the Broncos luring him back to Red Hill as Hunt’s replacement.

“That’s in the club’s hands,” Taylor said. “At the moment I’m just focusing on playing footy.

“If it comes around, it will come around. Until then I’ve got to keep playing some good footy.’’

Regardless of what happens, the kid should do what's best for him, and Bennett will have to accept the consequences of his decisions for the better or worse.
