Maybe not but he will need to think about our halfback options , and plan for that before the options dwindle. Also before the pointy end of the season.

I think Bennett will have a pretty good idea what he is going to do with Bird.

Bennett would not have done anything without thinking ahead first. But it will be up to Bird to have a good pre-season and show Bennett why he should play in the position he wants to play.

Pretty sure Hayne is moving onto his next dream so smart move by the Tits to re-sign Roberts. I'd rather another 7 than him tbh.

I rank our options this way as in who I would like:

1. Foran (possible but unlikely)
2. Thurston (no chance)
3. Taylor (extremely unlikely)
4. KNik (we already have him)
5. Croft (he is next to no chance with Cronk leaving, a halves spot is open and he is already contracted)
6. JNik (we can definitely get him back and brotherly competition between the two Niks would be good, JNik could become a great halfback under the right coach)

So all in all, I really hope we re-sign JNik and throw out the carrot to the two brothers and see who wants it the most.

Widdop is another option, but I'd say his number will be too high, particularly with this form improvement this year. I'd say he may very well go back to Melbourne, they will have Cronk dollars to spend.

I actually think Tyronne Roberts could be a good value for money halfback option for us.

my guess is they want another premiership before smith/bellamy calls it quits. dont think bellamy wants to be involved in another rebuilding phase, just my hunch

I'd be very surprised and worried that Benny was losing it if we forked out $700k per season for a centre......

He also doesn't want to play centre because he doesn't get his hands on the ball enough, although that could just be an excuse to leave the sharks for more money.

Bottom line is, I don't see us signing him for that money if the intention was that he stays at centre. I'd rather keep Opa on a small contract and upgrade Jimmy (not on too much atm) if he keeps his form and attitude up.

I actually think Tyronne Roberts could be a good value for money halfback option for us.

Massive no to Tyrone Roberts... he is nowhere near a controlling half.

He looks good at the moment because he's at fullback and Taylor has also taken over all control of the general play and kicking. He is a runner through and through with less kicking ability than milf.

He's also not much chop outside an inexperienced half based on his last years at the knights and also last year with the Titans it's the reason why he's not in the halves at the moment and was talked about as a bench option in preseason
