I don't think the issue for Bird is that he is playing at centre. I think the issue is that Sharks favour their left side a lot more than the right and Bird doesn't get his hands on the ball as much as he wants to.

He could play centre here and play the way he wants to. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play a similar role to Hodgo when he would be given the freedom to roam and link up with the halves in the middle of the field.

I definitely think Nikorima has earned a shot at the long term halves role. I still have reservations about his defence but he's been better than I expected in that department.

If Bennett rates him as at least a possibility, he'll plant him in Q-Cup as an 80 minute half. I hope he does.

Yarp. As his confidence grows he will only get better. Maybe a little more strength in defence and more decisiveness in attack. But his short kicking game is lovely and he has excellent pass selection and deception already. I'd be happy to keep him on. He's working hard and seems like the kind of kid who will aim to please Wayne.

If this is the Broncos biding time for Taylor then it's very disappointing that they are taking such a gamble.

A gamble that won't pay off.

We had opportunities to sign the perfect half for Milford. A half the Broncos have been looking for.
