OFFICIAL Patrick Carrigan re-signs

It's only a thing - other than him being a simpleton - insofar as his value as a leader. There's a reason Kevvie made Turps captain and not Payne, and this is a clue. If he's not leadership material, he's not worth top dollar.

Anyone who hasn't got vaccinated yet is a ****. They can get fucked.
I just don’t think Vax has much to do with leadership. Especially with the season 4 months away.

He’s a supreme athlete in his early 20s. One of the least at risk demographics and although the side effects are rare or minimal, his body is worth a few million dollars in futures and any risk to that he would be wise to weigh up heavily before acting.

I’m all for getting vaccinated but comments like yours in the extreme just further force a wedge between both sides of the issue.

No doubt Payne hasnt shown he should be considered to be a leader yet after his drama's, but he can certainly grow into the role in the future.

Id argue he’s shown it on the field and training paddock but I agree with you that his off-field leadership has left a lot to be desired. Regardless, I just don’t think the vaccine thing is relevant at the moment and is unnecessarily politicising what it means to be a rugby league leader. Sure if he refuses to get it and can’t play then that’s obviously different but he’s even said he’s getting it.

Well, we basically kicked one out and the other was out of contract.

If only you could work with your best mates at your workplace.

There’s actually mental health benefits by not…

WTF?? took me ages to find this thread ...who had a cry and changed the thread title??

Anyway....all I had to do was search for Wolfie and it lead me straight here.

Probably a little different for a football team to a normal workplace in some respects.

Strongly disagree. Your country is asking you to do it. If there are two sides to the argument, I have no respect for the other. Zero. I don't want anyone that ignorant or cowardly captaining the Broncos.

Let's leave it at that.

What a ignorant take. You have no idea what Haas has been advised by medical professionals. You have no idea what his past experiences have been around vaccines or healthcare, or his own predispositions or medical history.

Who knows how his brothers health issues impacted his or his families thoughts around certain medical procedures.

Who would want to be an NRL player with the amount of carry on you get thrown toward your character. “Ignorant and cowardly” because he didn’t immediately get vaccinated. What a gee up. I’m on the same side of the debate as you but you and the others using vaccination to virtue signal are a part of the problem.

Spare me the over the top patriotism too.

I feel like he'd be well worth the upgrade if he developed an offload, just needs to bring something else to his game.

Topping the "VB hardest working player index" isn't going to cut it.

Don't think that's an issue if you have others in the side who do it. It's about getting the blend right. We probably haven't got that blend right in recent years.

This thread is atrocious. People are firing up over zero information.

Mods shut it down

That's not even the worst part. They're firing up over a player that is above average at best.

Yes but this is about Pat and him wanting a better deal, to get a better deal he needs to bring something else than what he has given us so far.

Just rucking it up with little impact isn't really going to cut it, credit to him.. he consistently does it but it doesn't change anything.

He really doesn't. If he's effective at what he does, and he generally has been the majority of his time in first grade, then that's perfectly fine. If you have 4 or 5 props however who all do exactly the same thing, then you have an issue.

For all the criticism he get for his offloading, it appears when you look at his stats it must have been something he has been working on. He offloaded 6 times in 8 games in 2021 compared to 9 in 19 in 2020. Payne for example offloaded 25 times in 17 games in 2020 compared to just 10 in 20 games in 2021, but I think his ball playing actually improved.

I'd also suggest it's difficult for these guys to get to show any real attacking play consistently when you are in a side that's been dog shit pretty much for the last 3 years.
