PLAYER Payne Haas

So his management sent… an email… saying Payne would stay for the rest of his contract… Looks like a poor result being reported as a win.
Talk about needing to pick up the phone.. This is one of those situations for sure. how much shopping around is going to be done behind the scenes, the true colours are the same, just they are acknowledging that there is no pot of money to rival our foolish contract.

What chance this Situation festers next season?

Probably been told he isn't getting a release no matter what. If he or his management try to cause a fuss he can see out his contract in Q Cup.

He's just got to bring something else to his game, he tends to attract a few defenders because even though his runs aren't full of impact he's a hard bloke to bring down and is quite athletic for his size so if he does get through, he's going to go close to scoring.

Maybe a bit of ballplay before he engages the defense, an offload, just something else.

This, or just a quick hands pass one or 2 defenders wider

His ball playing has come along way this season, to the point of almost over doing it toward the end. He’s not quite on Patty’s level yet as Patty is a bit more fluid when passing and digs deeper into the line. One thing I do wrap Kev for is how impressive the ball playing has been in the forwards. Another preseason to iron out the kinks and it could be a real thing of beauty.

I would just like to see him coming off the back fence and getting some beast in his game. The ball play can come after he has sent people spinning like ten pins.

We overdo it imo, if every forward is passing the ball no one is hitting it up. We play better when we keep it simple & straight up the guts and leave the ball playing to the playmakers. Too many cooks and all that.

I'll never be anything but suspicious while he has that snake as a manager.
What odds he tests the club with a loss of form to the point we release him and end up paying some of his next contract.

I think we were overdoing it when Patty was suspended, because the rest of the forwards couldn't find the right balance between run and pass.

If anyone would benefit from having a pass, it would definitely be Haas. He draws more defenders than any other forward at the Broncos. He's still only 22 though, 2 years younger than Carrigan, plenty of time for it to develop (though hopefully before he leaves the Broncos)

Heard a bit of talk up here about the Cows being interested in Flegs.
No Way GIF by Late Night with Seth Meyers
Flegs is a must keep for us along with Patty.

If Jensen isn’t starting, is there an argument someone like Robati or Palasia might be an option on the bench instead?
Yup, these 2 along with Willison should get more game time and be given priority based on their availability. Only problem with this group is -- staying healthy. Hopefully all those injury concerns gets sorted out for their own good and self belief in the off season and all of them have a very good season next year.

He's staying:

The release request due to pay me more saga has paused for now but I clearly see it going in full force this time next year when he's able to negotiate offers for 2025. The drums might start beating even before we finish regular season next year.

The exercise will have been a reckoning for him. He should know now that no other club will pay him more than what he's on now. Maybe that's an incentive.

And to think his biggest strength is his consistency!
Considering the fact that his game is now starting to really develop & he's starting hit harder, I think we're being blessed with watching the man that will eventually go down as being the greatest forward of all time.

Loving it😊
