It might not be so much a direct job offer as such but more of a plan that the club put in place to get him to somewhere. Something like guaranteed media training and opportunities to get on the path of a tv/radio/media gig on retirement or a pathways type role.
I actually don't think its such a crazy request when you are the best in your position and potentially one of the best ever in your position. I also wouldn't think it would be that hard for the Broncos to come up with something to tick the box. If Haas stays with us until the end of his career it wouldn't be hard to find a role for a one club 300+ gamer.

Its probably not out of the question, if nein are prepared to put JT on tv to giggling away and Joey sitting there pouting the bar is clearly not very high, Payne couldn't do any worse.

Denan Kemp's theory on Bloke in a Bar was that Payne's manager is simply keeping his name out there and building Payne's brand (by increasing the hype) in order to secure some unrestricted TPA's that meet the requirements for being outside the cap (because the club had no role in securing them ... leading to him eventually re-signing with us

I think Kemp is on to something. The manager is essentially doing a call out for the Brisbane money crowd to come in with some type of offer. Looking at the Broncos over the years it's obvious that our club offers a high degree of success post footy especially for big names.
The thing is Payne has done his personal brand no favours over the years with his off field snafus and last years contract bs. He needs to get his perception cleaned up and make himself look good to be the face of some real-estate firm or tv fronting role. You can't have some eschey looking punk being the face of anything. He needs to look and act the part for public facing roles.
He needs to look at his captain and think long and hard at what makes Adam so marketable. Family, clean sheet, loyalty and communication is a good start.
