Seriously?

Quality debut from the young gun.

Two tries, did well to score his second try and looks to have some potential infront of him.

What did you folks make of him?

Like Opacic, looks like he belongs. Let's see how the year pans out but it's a better position to be in than "who's replacing Maranta".

If he can bring that on a regular basis, he's got my vote.

Still had plenty of work to do to score his second, that's what we need. Strength, speed and finishing instincts.

Some talk pre match that he shirked the tough carries but I thought he did a good job in that respect. Puts on a silly amount of footwork hitting the line, gave me a good chuckle.

I am quite happy with how he and Opacic are going. On current value, we can afford to give Kahu the rehab he needs. Both get a great chance to press their case for this year and next.

Pretty happy with his performance. Definitely better than Maranta on first look, but he wasn't really tested in defence so there's still plenty of question marks.

Boyd, Oates, Roberts, Opacic, Pearson, Kahu. Who leaves next year?

Yeah good debut and I liked what I saw but will need to continue to show he can bring that on a regular basis, on that note I'm happy for him to remain and look at where we at when Kahu is ready to return.

With Eden returning to England and Reed is facing the possibility of retiring. Personally I don't see the need for any of them to leave as such unless we sign someone of note. Even Kahu who might be injury prone still has something to contribute.

Oates to second row is always a possibility. But next year I'd be happy with Pearson simply providing depth for injuries/Origin.

Yeah great debut for him for sure, but cant rate yet. Needs to do it more than once and its easier when the opposition isnt playing with too much chop and everything is going your teams way. But seriously even though its been a tough few months i think future looks good with the debutants we have had this year.

It would get his silly errors under the high ball out of his game. Maybe it is time if Pearson kicks on. I was very impressed with him as well. You know you've got a good un when he's scoring two tries on debut and blended in with the rest of his team as if he had been there for 100 games.

Please let this be our redemption for Yow Yeh.

Was a fantastic debut, but it was just that - a debut.

Let's not go getting ahead of ourselves, gang.

Though hopefully this means I don't have to watch Maranta stinking it up out wide ever again! Sorry Lachlan, you seem like a nice guy.

Superman debut, time will tell though as always.

The less said about Maranta and Eden the better.

How good is it to finally see a natural winger at the end of our backline. We didn't see it tonight, but he is pretty quick, good in the air, has footwork, he's quite big and strong and can find his way to the try line.Although it's hard to judge a player after a single game, but surely in that one game alone he showed enough to keep his spot over Maranta. Don't get me wrong, I like Maranta, but he doesn't offer much other than being safe. Perhaps we can bring in Maranta when we need the safety under the highball, but even then I think Pearson can handle that too.

You were right, he is a real winger. Not going to go off early but he looks right at home and never looked like blowing either of those try's. He's got the size, the speed, footwork... He's a beauty. Both him and Opacic were solid tonight

Ha, don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to big note myself.

Was just trying my best to represent what a few were probably thinking.

I found Wayne's comments interesting. When he was quizzed on Pearson, he admitted that they had long term plans for him but he didn't expect him to be in this role until next season.

Circumstances changed and fair credit to the guy, he took it with both hands.

I agree with the general consensus. Timing is everything, and Wayne got it right with Pearson. Coming off a strong performance for the Dolphins, Round 23 was the time for him and it seemed like Wayne was very delicate with him. He didn't inform him until last minute and listening to Thaiday on the Nova website, it seemed like they tried their best to keep his job simple. Basically 'you're a winger, just go out there and put the ball over the line' was the tongue in cheek line from Sam. Obviously there's more to a wingers job these days, I think they've surpassed centres in the modern game but for a young guy that's the way it ought to be.

I'd imagine Kahu will come back into the side next week, fingers crossed he makes it through the rest of the season unscathed but as it stands it was nice to get a glimpse at some of the depth coming through.

It's certainly better news than poor ol' Carlin getting his jaw broken once again.
